38 years of Pindad, Adaptive to be a Champion!

PT Pindad (Persero) celebrated its 38th birthday on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Different from previous years, this celebration was carried out by complying Covid-19 pandemic health protocol so that it was carried out online through video conference applications and Live Stream on the Pindad's official YouTube channel. The 38th Anniversary of Pindad was attended by the Board of Directors of Pindad, Commissioners, Echelon 1, Directors of the subsidiaries and grandchildren, the Labor Union and all employees of PT Pindad (Persero).

This year's Anniversary celebration carries the theme "Adaptive to be a Champ1on" with the hope that in 2021 Pindad can be at the forefront of various product innovations, be adaptive and enthusiastic in facing change and be proactive in order to continue to provide maximum performance even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic situation.

The Head of the Anniversary Committee and Corporate Secretary, Krisna Cahyadianus said that this year's Anniversary was held in a simple manner, avoiding crowds and adhering to health protocols so that it was carried out online and followed by all employees, either through video conference or via YouTube.

CEO of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose wished Pindad a happy 38th birthday and appreciated the performance of all employees and conveyed a message from the Minister of SOEs.

"In commemoration of the 38th anniversary of Pindad this year, Adaptive to be a Champion coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, still in an atmosphere of concern for the Covid-19 pandemic. Let's be grateful until Pindad turns 38, we commemorate it simply but still solemnly. The Minister of SOE in the video conference advised to move forward to be strong and demanded that we quickly adapt to all conditions and be able to compete so that our dreams of entering the global market can be realized, " said Abraham.

He also expressed his hope for Pindad this year to achieve the target and urged all employees to comply with health protocols and government recommendations.

"Last year we were able to survive and record a profit even though it was not as big as the previous year, thank you for the hard work and smart work of all Pindad employees. We must remain enthusiastic, work hard and strive to achieve the company's targets and be adaptive to changes so that the company's performance remains good. I also urge you to comply with health protocols and comply with the government," said Abraham.

Representing the board of commissioners, Sakkan Tampubolon advised Pindad to build a strategic defense industry and encourage domestic defense capabilities to contribute and work for Indonesia.

If you look back to the beginning when Pindad was founded, in 1808 Constructie Winkel (CW) was founded by the Governor General of the Netherlands, William Herman Daendels as a workshop for the procurement, maintenance and repair of Dutch weapons. In addition to weapons workshops, Daendels founded a large-caliber munitions workshop called Projectiel Fabriek (PF) and the Dutch colonial government established a munitions and explosives manufacturing and repair workshop for their navy called Pyrotechnische Werkplaats (PW) in 1850.

December 1, 1958 PW changed its name to Alat Peralatan Angkatan Darat (Pabal AD) until in 1962 Pabal AD changed its name to Perindustrian TNI Angkatan Darat (Pindad). It is at this time that Pindad is focused on integrated management and technological advancement of the latest defense and security products. On February 11, 1983, Pindad became a State-Owned Enterprise in accordance with a Government Decree which was marked by the handover of the management of Pindad from the Ministry of Defense and Security (Dephankam) to the then President Director of Pindad, Mr. B.J Habibie.

Currently Pindad has been able to produce a variety of innovative products both in the field of defense and security such as weapons, munitions and special vehicles as well as industrial fields such as excavators, agricultural machine tools, generators, and commercial explosives. Pindad is adaptive to various situations and conditions and always strives to make the best contribution to the nation and state.
