BSSN Invited BUMN NDHI Collaboration to Strengthen Cyber Security

In an effort to improve security capabilities in the cyber field, state-owned companies in the National Defense and High-Tech Industries (NDHI) cluster have agreed to establish cooperation with the National Cyber and State Code Agency (BSSN). The cooperation was stated in a memorandum of understanding signed by the President Director of PT Pindad (Persero) Abraham Mose, along with other NDHI members and also later by the Head of the Cyber and State Code Agency (BSSN) Lt. Gen. (ret) Hinsa Siburian who was unable to attend. The signing was witnessed by the Deputy for Protection, Akhmad Toha, at the Savoy Homann Hotel, Bandung, October 28th, 2019.

In his remarks, Akhmad Toha said challenges and threats in the cyber dimension need to be anticipated jointly by multi stakeholders including BSSN formed by the government to collaborate with various institutions to carry out the task of carrying out effective and efficient cyber security.

"BSSN in carrying out its duties strengthens the principles of collaboration and synergy with various sectors, to take pro-active steps in managing risks and strengthening the security and resilience of cyberspace," he said.

In order to support the development of cyber security devices, BSSN has compiled a roadmap for information technology product certification. Through the roadmap, it is expected that by 2021 there will be a minimum standard of information technology products in three types of product categories, namely mobile applications, web applications, and network security devices.

In connection with this, it is expected that the devices produced by Indonesia, especially those produced by NDHI, can utilize the certification of the product. So that local startups in the field of cyber security and NDHI will get product safety guarantees and are recognized internationally.

BSSN collaboration with NDHI can be done in several domains of security and cyber namely frameworks and standards, governance, risk assessment, trade intelligence, security architecture, physical security operations, and career development. For information, according to data compiled by the Indonesian cyber security index, there has been a significant increase from the 70th place in 2017 to 41st out of 175 countries in 2018, this achievement is the result of collaboration and synergy from all parties.
