Board of Directors of Pindad give matter on the spirit of State Defense in the midst of Covid-19

CEO of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose & Chief of Business Strategy of PT Pindad (Persero), Syaifuddin were become a spokepersons at the 2021 State Defense Training for Youth Webinar with the theme “Awakening the Spirit of Defending the State in the Midst of the Covid-19” on Thursday, May 27, 2021. This Webinar organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports with spokepersons; Prof. Dr. Faisal Abdullah, SH, M.Si, DFM. – Deputy for Youth Empowerment of the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports, Drs. Robert Simbolon, M.PA. – Deputy for State Boundary Management at BNPP RI and Dr. Eki Baihaki, M. Si. - Widyaiswara Wisesa Utama Watamnas. The webinar activity received great enthusiasm with more than 1,000 participants.

Abraham Mose delivered matters on the role of PT Pindad (Persero) as part of the State Defense in the Covid-19 Pandemic. The presentation was then continued by the Chief of Business Strategy of PT Pindad (Persero), Syaifuddin. He explained starting from the President's directive not to underestimate Covid-19 and maintain the 5M principles along with health protocols as well as the statement of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy on positive signals that the Indonesian economy needs support. As an industry, PT Pindad (Persero) develops itself to become an independent industry that has the capability and technology for the production of defense equipment and the freedom to choose the source of material / technology and is free from all dependencies. Syaifuddin also explained that PT Pindad (Persero) has a vision to become a top 100 global defense company by 2024 by offering high quality solutions and products, through innovation and strategic partnerships.

The presentation also explained Pindad's current capabilities in innovation and applied technology, the products that have been produced, and Pindad's role in advancing the Indonesian economy as an industry. Syaifuddin explained that the Covid-19 pandemic had dealt a heavy blow to the industrial sector, but PT Pindad (Persero) continued to innovate, one of which was by creating a ventilator product - Pindad VRM which has been contracted with the Ministry of Defense and has supported various regions in Indonesia to tackle Covid-19.

Ending the presentation, Syaifuddin advised the younger generation to be able to defend the country, especially during the difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Even though they do not take up arms, the younger generation can defend the country while maintaining health and reducing the spread of Covid-19 through the implementation of health protocols. In addition, the younger generation is also supported to continue to make various innovations in the fields they master. The Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir also supports the younger generation to innovate and provide roles for the younger generation to occupy various strategic positions through the direction of the Ministry of SOEs Halal Bihalal (21 May 2021). Lastly, real steps to defend the country by the younger generation can be done through purchasing domestic products and avoiding imports, so that they can support the economy and support the Indonesian industry.
