Chief Technology and Development: the Importance of National Upstream Industry to Increase Productiv

Chief Technology and Development, Ade Bagdja was a guest speaker at the seminar on economic recovery, opportunities and challenges for the machining and metal and machinery industry to strengthen domestic resilience online on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. The seminar was organized by the Indonesian Metal and Machinery Industry Association (GAMMA) and PT Pelita Promo Internusa supported by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Industry.

On this occasion, Ade Bagdja delivered material on increasing the Independence of the National Industry. He explained how the definition, aspects and outline of the National Industry and the desired independence expectations. Ade Bagdja also emphasized that the aspect of independence consist of 3 main indicators; Ability to create/integrate, freedom in choosing material/system and technology sources and independence in various relations.

The Independence of the National Industry will also grow if the National Industry is supported by raw materials and processing of raw materials supplied domestically. Due to the enormous need and required by various industrial aspects, the presence of the upstream industry will increase productivity, economic value, the value of TKDN and even reduce dependence on imports. Ade Bagdja conveyed great hopes for the Upstream Industry, especially the need for PT Pindad (Persero) to reduce dependence on imports in various products, one of which is munitions. “If the upstream industry can be developed in Indonesia, one of which is for processing brasscup/brass, it will be able to increase the TKDN value of munition products. I am also sure that the presence of the brasscup industry is also needed by various industrial sectors,” Ade Bagdja explain.

Closing the activity, Ade Bagdja invited all of the webinar participants to support PT Pindad (Persero) in realizing the independence of the domestic defense industry and producing a variety of quality defense equipment and industrial products.
