Pindad and Caracal UAE signed a cooperation agreement in the field of weapons
CEO of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose signed an Industrial Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the CEO of Caracal International LLC, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hamad Al-Ameri in the defense sector on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Grand Hyatt , Jakarta. The signing was carried out at the Business Forum Indonesia - Emirates Amazing Week 2021 with the theme "Building Path Towards Economic Recovery" which was witnessed directly by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE, Suhail Al Mazroui, CEO of DP World, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem and CEO of Indonesia Investment Authority, Ridha DM Wirakusumah.
Pindad and Caracal will collaborate to carry out joint production of various weapons, including the AR15-based CAR 816 assault rifle for use in the Indonesian special forces, using the barrel component and other components from Pindad. Joint production of the Pindad 5.56mm SM3 machine gun for use by the UAE army and marketed in the Middle East, as well as the use of Pindad-made barrels and other weapons components for Caracal-made weapons. Caracal is a weapons manufacturer under the defense industry holding of the Edge Group, UAE.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, said the defense industry cooperation will be carried out between Pindad and Caracal.
"We also increase cooperation in the defense industry. We will make a lot of assault rifles from Pindad. They are successful, we are successful, we use them together," said Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in a press conference.
At the forum, the signing of the G to G cooperation and the B to B collaboration includes: mangrove rehabilitation, the creative economy sector or cooperation in the field of creative economy, agreeing on plans for a world conference of creative economy or technical preparation of world creative economy conferences, joint venture agreements or a joint venture between Dubai Ports World or DP World and PT Maspion, the World Logistic Passport (WLP) Agreement to increase international market trade opportunities, the UAE tourism sector will invest in the tourism sector in Aceh and the signing of the Pindad cooperation with Caracal, Pertamina with Adnoc, and Lulu Lease Agreement.
This activity is expeted to be an effort to start making economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic and to improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
