Pindad Signs Weapons and Munitions Procurement Contracts as well as a Memorandum of Understanding fo

Witnessed by the Head of the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla RI) Laksdya Bakamla Aan Kurnia, Chief Executive Officer off PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose and the Head of Infrastructure & Facilities Bureau of Bakamla RI, First Admiral Bakamla, Amrein signed a contract to procure 12.7 mm submachine weapons and munitions for patrol boat for Bakamla RI on Wednesday, 9 September 2020 at the Perintis Kemerdekaan Building, Jakarta. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Bakamla RI officials, Chief Defense and Security Product Business of Pindad, Heru Puryanto, VP Marketing and Sales of Defense and Security, Edy Purwanto, GM Weapons, Wijil Jatmiko and VP Corporate University, Bayu A. Fiantoro.

The weapons that purchased by Bakamla RI are 12.7 x 99 mm SM-5 machine gun which has a range of up to 1,830 m with a rate of fire of 400-600 rounds/minute. Meanwhile, the procurement of munitions of various caliber includes handheld munitions, rifles, snipers, 12.7 mm guns and submachine guns.

Defense equipment products of PT Pindad (Persero) will support Bakamla RI in carrying out the job of conduting security and safety patrols in Indonesian waters and jurisdiction areas.

“Thank you for the trust from Bakamla RI to use Pindad’s defense product and we will guide and support main tasks of Bakamla RI in maintaining Indonesia’s marine resilience. Pindad’s support will not stop here, but will continue in the future,” said Abraham Mose in his remarks.

Abraham also explained in term of industry, Pindad will continue to develop itself to be able to support Bakamla RI’s need. Hope in the future the cooperation will continue, domestic defense product, especially Pindad, can continue to grow and develop, go forward together for Indonesia.

The Head of Bakamla RI, Laksdya Bakamla Aan Kurnia said that Bakamla RI supports the national defense industry to be able to contribute for increasing Indonesia’s marine resilience. The Head of Bakamla RI and his previous ranks have also reviewed the production facilities and tested Pindad’s weaponry product while visiting Pindad Bandung, last August.

“Bakamla RI hope that by purchasing these weapons is to strengthen our strength on duties, especially to enforce the law and the cooperation between Bakamla and Pindad can run really well, and be able to make some improvements on the job. Bakamla also helps advance government programs to advance products in Indonesia.” Said the Head of Bakamla RI, Laksdya TNI Aan Kurnia, S.Sos., M.M

Bakamla RI, the government agencies outside the Ministry of Defense and the TNI have obtained standard military firearms control licenses based on the regulation of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia No.12 2020.

On the same occasion, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between PT Pindad (Persero) and Bakamla RI on "Utilization of Resources in the Context of Enhancing Marine Security" was held.

The scope of the NK includes: Potential for Pindad products to support the needs of Bakamla RI defense equipment, collaborative research and development, conducting trainings and other mutually agreed upon collaborations.
