FGD II Defense Industry of SOEs, in responding the challenge in National Alpalhankam needs

In 2021, the government through the Ministry of SOEs has a target of forming a Holding of SOEs Defense Industry. One of the goals is to combine the strength of SOEs in the Defense Industry Sector to be more focused and collaborative to fulfil the needs of National Defense and Security Guard.

This was revealed by the Deputy 1 Minister of SOE RI, Pahala Mansury when became a keynote speech in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Chapter II of SOEs Defense Industry with the theme “Answering the challenges in fulfilling the needs of the National Alpalhankam through the elaboration process on regulations and policies on the plan for capacity development and industrial ecosystems of National defense industry”. This event was held in a hybrid manner through online and face-to-face at the DAHANA Campus Subang on Thursday, June 10, 2021.

“The establishment of SOEs Holding of Defense Industry provides benefits not only for SOEs members, the state or the government, but also other stakeholders and the defense ecosystem as a whole,” said Pahala Mansury.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Defense in his keynote speech delivered by the Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Marsdya TNI Donny Ermawan Taufanto, M.D.S expressed his support for the establishment of the Holding of SOEs Defense Industry. According to him, Indonesia Ministry of Defense continues to provide support for the Cluster Indhan Masterplan.

“Support is also in the form of increasing the scale and strengthening position in the National ALPALHANKAM market by prioritizing the use of quality products made by SOEs of Indhan,” said Donny Ermawan.

The FGD that was packaged in the Indonesia Defence Club (IDC) also resulted in an understanding signed by stakeholders such as KKIP, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, LIPI, the Defense University and the CEOs of Defense Industry. In this IDC, Ade Bagdja as Chief of Technology & Development Officer of PT Pindad (Persero) had the opportunity to become a Moderator during this discussion.

According to the Chairman of SOEs of Defense Industry Organizing Committee, Bobby Rasyidin, this understanding is very important to smooth out the ideals of Indonesian Defense Industry Independence. According to him, with a strategic holding, SOEs of Defense Industry will be able to increase its business and technological capabilities to meet the needs of National Defense and Security Agency. In addition, SOEs of Defense Industry also have the experience and ability to collaborate with private owned company.

In order to realize the implementation of regulations regarding defense industry, there needs to be a concrete joint program in each dimension as a pilot project for the implementation of harmonization of Defense Industry,” explained the expert staff of the Deputy Minister of Defense, Andika Monoarfa.

Through the formation of a holding, Defense Industry will be under a new brand, called Defend ID. Wirh this brand image, they hope that the Defense Industry will be able to demonstrate its capabilities in producing highly competitive products.

This series of FGDs is a step for SOEs of Defense Industry to contribute more to the fulfilment of Defense and Security Equipment Tools (Alpalhankam) in a sustainable manner. Thus, the National Defense Industry is increasingly independent and advanced, and can help to improve the National Economy through added value from the production of the Defense Industry.
