Focus on Completing Orders from Ministry of Defense, Pindad is Currently Not Open Order Civilian Ver

Pindad is not open order for civilian version of Maung due to the focus on completing the military version of Maung Light Tactics Vehicle first to fulfil the Ministry of Defense’s orders. As for the information circulating at this time that Pindad has opened an order for the civilian version, it is not true. Pindad will only open orders for the civilian version of Maung later after all military version orders are fulfilled with technical orders that will be informed later.

This in line with the statement of the President Director of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose in various media that Pindad focuses on fulfilling military type orders first.

“Previously, we appreciate the attention of media colleagues and various groups of people who were interested to order the civilian version of Maung. The viral news about Maung especially after the Minister of Defense tried his hand at Sentul some time ago and issued a statement to order from Pindad,” said Kaka

Kaka also explained that based on viral news related to Maung, there were also some of the news were inaccurate and did not confirm beforehand with the company. For example, the civil version of Maung can be ordered through company’s website. This is not quite right because what is quoted from the website www.pindad.com about the procedure for ordering industrial products is for existing products that have already been sold, such as various heavy equipment products, industrial equipment and services, transportation infrastructure and mining services.

Currently Maung is in the process of making the first article or the first product which will go through a certification process with the feasibility agency at the Ministry of Defense. After passing the certification, they enter the mass production process, of course, for the military version first.

Maung Development Chronology

Maung’s background began in2018 started with the initiative of the Commander of the Infantry Armament Center (Danpussenif) at the time, Maj. Gen. Surowahadi to Pindad and the MSA Design team to develop special infantry vehicles that can be used by troops for operations, patrols and support daily activities. This vehicles that can be used by troops for operations, patrols and support daily activities. This vehicle is designed as their standard operational vehicle to go through various difficult battlefields both on public and off road track.

The tactical requirements conveyed by the infantry were answered with a concept developed through PT MSA’s independent research and development with Pindad staffs as TA for industrialization, because it was hoped that this vehicle infantry would be produced at Pindad.

Then infantry submitted a proposal R&D to the TNI for the development of a “4x4 light tactical vehicle” which was carried out by the Pussenif R&D team, PT MSA and Pindad as industrialization consultants. The prototype concept was done by MSA and a workshop for FAD works in Cimahi with Pindad as an industrialization consultant.

Maung light tactical vehicle was designed to match the needs of its users. Maung has 150 HP, must be able to pass a pool of water at least 70 cm, able to climb up to 30? inclines, sloping roads and able to cover a distance of up to 600 km.
