Cooperation to Face Global Challenge

Delegations from Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kepolisian-Perguruan Tinggi Ilmu Kepolisian of Indoensian National Police (STIK-PTIK Polri) visited PT Pindad (Persero) on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015. The delegation which led by Head of STIK-PTIK, Inspector General of Police Rycko Amelza Dahniel, accepted by PT Pindad (Persero)s CEO Silmy Karim at Auditorium of PT PIndad (Persero) Directorate Building. Also attended this event were Board of Directors, top managements, and related staffs of PT Pindad (Persero). 

Silmy Karim said that PIndad as defence industry company welcomed this visit of STIK-PTIK delegation because Pindad and Indonesian National Police had a close relationship throughout the years. Pindad has a delegation to reach a independency level that supported by Defence Industry Law number 16 year 2012, where Pindads products could also used by Indonesian National Police, said Silmy.

Furthermore, Silmy explained that STIK-PTIK was an agency that generated Police officers that able to protect the country in the future. Comprehensive understanding about national defence industry was a form of support. STIK generates future police officers. If Mr Rycko and staffs have a proper understanding about PIndad had been able to understand Pindad in preparing these future Police generation, the support towards defence industry would be more real, said Silmy.

Inspector General of Police Rycko Amelza Dahniel said that on this first visit to Pindad, he hoped that PT Pindad could be a learning place for STIK-PTIK students to comprehend weaponry and ammunitions technology. We hope could work together on education of future police officers, especially development of weapon and ammunition technology, also in the identification of firearms, including amunition, said Rycko.

Moreover, global challenges which currently faced by Indonesian National Police, especially at terrorism field and the appearance of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Cooperation on research and development to face these threats was expected to be done. This research and development cooperation, said Rycko, could be formed to fulfill Indonesian National Polices Minimum Essential Forces by PT Pindad. If our research with Pindad were executed to deal with global challenge, then it can be done also towards the MEF needs for Indonesian National Police. If everything is mapped, so we can be more anticipative and proactive, said Rycko.

Both sides hoped that this cooperation could be well established in the future, because defence industry technology advance could grow the patriotism, motivation, and responsibility towards the nation. The event continued by a visit to several production facilities of PT Pindad (Persero) such as Weapon Division and Special Vehicle Division. (Anggia)
