Indonesian Chief of Army Closed AARM 2019, Together We Can!
Indonesian Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General Andika Perkasa, officially closed the 29th ASEAN Armed Forces (AARM) meeting 2019 at the Infantry Education Center (Pusdikif), Pussenif Kodiklatad, Cipatat, West Bandung Regency (KBB). AARM was joined by military troops from Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Singapore.
This year, Indonesia appointed as the host in a different format of the race from the previous year, a collaboration between shooters from different countries with the theme "Bersama Kita Bisa" (Together We Can). "Each country is a competitor. But this year it is not, because it represents the shooters from each country combined into 1 team, divided into 4 teams, all countries work together. This change provides an opportunity for each country to become a winner this time, "Andika said.
KSAD emphasized that each team would prioritize cooperation, not just about the competition between countries, not only at AARM, but also to challenge competition together in Southeast Asia. "I believe you have all seen, talked to each other and won the championship to face this year's AARM. I appreciate the efforts of all those who have built better relations together. Always remember that we, fellow countries in Southeast Asia are one, together we can do everything, not only in the championship, but also compile to face common security challenges. Our security challenges will be more complex. What we need is to hold hands together and be supported. Because the welfare of our region depends on our own efforts, "said Andika.
KSAD also appreciated the shooters from 10 countries who were supported in a variety of different teams. "Thank you to the Crocodile Team, the Bear Team, the Cheetah Team, the Dragon Team for making these past weeks to be very memorable," Andika continued.
Pindad weapons used in AARM 2019 are SS2 V4 HB, SS2 V2 HB, G2 Elite Pistol and Combat.
The material competed in AARM 2019 consists of four rifle materials (rifles), male and female pistols, carbines and machine guns (automatic weapons) and combined again into 15 race categories. The Alligator team won the overall championship with 6 trophies, 33 gold medals, 26 silver medals and 21 bronze medals, followed by the second position of the Bear Team with 6 trophies, 32 gold medals, 33 silver medals and 6 bronze medals.
While the third position is occupied by the Cheetah Team with the achievement of 2 trophies, 11 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 41 bronze medals and the fourth position won by Dragon Team with 1 trophy, 10 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 18 bronze medals.
In addition, at the closing of this shooting competition, a novelty shoot was also held, namely shooting a falling plate pistol with the participants from the Army leaders which came from the ten participating countries. The closing ceremony was also filled with parades and defiles of the participants, military attractions from Kopassus, skydiving with the flag of the AARM participant country, and the drum band performances from the Military Academy Taruna (Akmil). At the closing ceremony, it was also announced that the implementation of the 30th AARM Shooting Contest in 2020 will be held in Brunei Darussalam.
