MPR-RI Delegation Visit to PT Pindad (Persero)

Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat Republik Indonesia (People’s Consultative Assembly) or MPR-RI Delegation were visited PT Pindad (Persero) on Thursday, October 24th 2013. The delegation which was led by Vice Chairman of MPR-RI Ahmad Farhan Hamid, was also attended by Vice Ministry of Defence Sjafrie Samsoedin with the group of Komite Kebijakan Industri Pertahanan (Policy Committee of Defence Industry) or KKIP, State Owned Enterprises Minister Assistant of Institutional Field Bagus Sumbogo, Deputy Director of Strategic Industry and Manufacture of State Owned Enterprises Ministry Dwijanti Tjahjaningsih accompanied by some staffs of State Owned Enterprises Ministry, Direktur Bidang Industri Strategis Kementerian Perindustrian Abdul Hasbi, and some other invited guests. The delegation was accepted by Duty Executor of PT Pindad (Persero) President Director Tri Hardjono and PT Pindad (Persero) Vice of Main Commissioner Ali Yusuf. This event was also attended by PT Pindad (Persero) Board of Directors, the Head of Divisions, the Deputy Directors, and some related staffs of PT Pindad (Persero).    

This MPR-RI delegation visit was a part of visit agenda to some strategic industries in Indonesia. This visit was done in order to know further about the defence and security industry in Indonesia, especially for land dimension, through some production processes for many various products of PT Pindad (Persero).

The event was started with the event at Auditorium, Directorate Building. The depth presentation about PT Pindad (Persero) was presented by Duty Executor of PT Pindad (Persero) President Director Tri Hardjono. Question and ask session were the next event where the member of delegation were asked some the obstacles that were experienced by PT Pindad (Persero) in producing many weaponry system products and some achievements that successfully achieved.

Next, the delegation were visited some of the production facilities of PT Pindad (Persero) and watched the making process of some leading weaponry products of PT Pindad (Persero). Accompanied by the Head Division of Special Vehicle Division Edy Purwanto, the delegation visited the 1st Production Department of Special Vehicle Division and they could see the beginning process of panser production such as steel plate cutting, the assembling process until forming the whole body of panser. They were also visited 2nd Department of Special Vehicle Division and they could see the installation of many accessories of the combat vehicle product Anoa started from the tires until the interior design of the vehicle.

The delegation was also got the opportunity to see the action from a wide range of product variants of special vehicles such as the tactical vehicle Komodo and Anoa Panser. The opportunity to directly try PT Pindad combat vehicle was also got by the delegation by rode it and even controlled the Komodo and Anoa, the pride of PT Pindad. The praising words were also heard from the member of the delegation about PT Pindad special vehicle products.

The production facilities at Forging and Casting Division were the location was visited next. The Head of Forging and Casting Division, Pudjo Sasongko was explained about the production process at 1st Department of Casting and Forging Department. The delegation was also saw some products which produced at Forging and Casting Division such as various kinds of bombs and also axel for Anoa Panser.

Weapon Division was became the last location which was visited that day. The delegation visited the 1st Department of Weapon Division and got the detail explanation from the Head of Weapon Division, Santa Yusuf. After that, they visited the weapon display room to see many kinds of weapons which had produced by PT Pindad (Persero). The delegation was also tried the performance of some PT Pindad rifles by tested them at the shooting area.

That day’s event was closed by a lunch with the board of directors, board of commissioners, and the high level officials of PT Pindad (Persero). Hopefully, this visit from MPR-RI could gave a positive feedback for both sides at the future. (Anggia)
