A Visit of The MPR RI to Support The Indonesia’s Defense Industry

Chief of Executive Officer of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose and the Board of Directors welcomed the work visit of People’s Consultative Assembly of The Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI), led by the Chairman of MPR RI, Bambang Soesatyo, S.E., M.B.A at the Main Auditorium of PT Pindad (Persero), Bandung on Friday, July 7, 2020.

The Chairman of MPR RI, Bambang Soesatyo, S.E., M.B.A was accompanied by the Deputy Chairperson of MPR RI, Fadel Muhammad and MPR RI staff.

In his speech, Abraham Mose expressed his gratitude and expressed his pride for Bambang Soesatyo's visit to Pindad. Abraham then introduced PT Pindad (Persero) including the production facilities to the products that have been produced.

"Pindad has 2 business lines, there are the defense industry and industrial products business. Pindad is located in 2 locations, in Bandung we produce defense and industrial products, while in Turen, Malang Regency we focus on munition production. For industrial products, Pindad already has excavators, agricultural equipment, and even tools for infusing railways. " Abraham explained.

Abraham also explained that Pindad will produce missiles which work will be carried out in Pindad Turen.

The Chairman of the MPR RI, Bambang Soesatyo, appreciated the warm welcome given by PT Pindad (Persero). Bambang said that the MPR RI visit this time was a form of support so that Pindad's vision to become a leading global company in the fields of defense and security as well as industrial products in 2026 can be realized.

"Pindad is a strategic industry which shows that Indonesia has one of the strengths to fulfill its needs for defense equipment in order to maintain future defense stability. It is an honor that Pindad products have been widely used in several neighboring countries to participate in UN peacekeeping actions. It is a hope that Pindad's existence as a strategic industrial company can actualize the independence and sovereignty of our defense industry. " said Bambang.

Bambang continued, one form of the government's support for the development of domestic strategic industries is that Commission 3 calls on the Defense Agency (Polri) to impose strict and comprehensive import restrictions. Pindad must also be more proactive in conveying to the public what products Pindad has marketed along with their production capacity.

Furthermore, the Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly and his entourage were directed to carry out visits to special vehicle production facilities and arms divisions, watch the combat vehicle defile and try driving using various special vehicles and conducting firing tests with various variants of weapons owned by Pindad.
