PIKKI’s Visit to PT Pindad (Persero), Looking for Synergy and Cooperation Opportunities
National companies that engaged in shipbuilding industry, visited PT Pindad (Persero), on February 18th, 2016. The entourage which incorporated under Perhimpunan Industri Komponen Kapal Indonesia (Association of Indonesian Ship Components Industry) or PIKKI, was received by Vice President of Heavy Equipment, Wawan Mustofa at Auditorium Directorate Building of PT Pindad (Persero), Bandung.
Wawan Mustafa said that PT Pindad (Persero) welcome PIKKI visit with open arms and stated that PINDAD not only produce military products, but also commercial products since many years ago. "Most people assume Pindad Indonesia is a military installation that is only engaged in the field of defense and security, but we have long run engaged in a commercial product. In addition to weapons, munitions, and special vehicles, we also produce some commercial products such as generators, marine equipment, as well as the establishment of heavy equipment that is PINDAD Excava 200 production line," said Wawan.
Chairman of PIKKI, Ekki Komarudin, said that PIKKI which houses more than 50 Indonesian manufacturers of ship components, wants to initiate the cooperation opportunities that can be established with PT Pindad (Persero). PIKKI assess Pindad as a company that not only produces military products, but also commercial products, especially equipment of ships, with a label ‘pin marine’. "PT Pindad (Persero) has a fairly deep experience with the shipping industry. Obviously a lot of potential for cooperation and synergies that can be done with PIKKI," said Ekky.
PIKKI is an association under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. This visit gave hope for a better synergy between industries in the country, especially in the field of shipbuilding and to increase the local content for the products.
PIKKI delegation visited several production facilities PT Pindad (Persero) such as pin marine products, excavator, Machining Department, and special vehicle products, before leaving PT Pindad (Persero). (Anggia)
