Royal Thai Armed Forces Visit to PT Pindad (Persero)

On Thursday, August 28th 2014, PT Pindad (Persero) was visited by a special guest. General Tanasak Patimapragon as the Thailand highest commander and the Royal Thai Armed Forces delegation were visited some of production facilities of PT Pindad (Persero). The delegations were accepted by Chief Operating Officer of Defence and Security Product, Tri Hardjono at Auditorium Directorate Building. Also attended this event were PT Pindad (Persero) vice presidents and related manager.

Chief Operating Officer of Defence and Security Product was welcomed the Royal Thai Armed Forces as a good opportunity to show some of PT Pindad (Persero) production facilities to the Royal Thai Armed Forces which already established cooperation in the field of ammunitions and weapons sales since a long time.

On this visit, General Tanasak Patimapragon and some of delegation members were asking about the detail of defence industry activities at PT Pindad (Persero) such as company future planning, production capability of the company, local content in the defense products, sales process to foreign market, and also support and position of the goverment towards the company managerial. General Tanasak Patimapragon was also sharing that Thailand defence industry already had a manufacturer within the Royal That Army but just to meet the internal needs from the country, it was not enough yet so that Thailand needs to import from other countries.

PT Pindad (Persero) had been exported various defence and security products to Thailand since 2006. Those products were consist of small caliber ammunition with various caliber, Anti Riot Gun along with the ammunition, and tear gas-hand grenade. The competition of PT Pindad (Persero) as a supplier of defense and security products in Thailand is quite fierce, given the companies that participate in the tender in Thailand were quite a lot such as Malaysias SME, Unite Kingdoms CBC, Philipines Armscor, South Koreas PMC, Chinas Norinco, and Spains Expal for small caliber ammunition products and Israels IMI and Malaysias SME for tear gas-hand grenade.

General Tanasak Patimapragon and delegation were also visited PT Pindad (Persero) production facilities i.e. Special Vehicle Division and Weapon Division. They were enthusiastically tried various leading products of PT Pindad (Persero) such as Anoa 6x6 Armored Vehicle, Komodo 4x4 Tactical Vehicle, and AMX-13. He was also seemed interesting to ask various kind of weapons and pistols that already used by Thai military and apparatus, and also asked how Indonesia producing their military products independently.

Before leaving PT Pindad (Persero), General Tanasak Patimapragon and the delegation members said their grateful for the warm and good welcome. (Anggia)
