Visiting Pindad, Head of Bappenas Reviewed Production Facilities and Watched Combat Vehicle Defiles
BANDUNG - Minister of National Development Planning Ministry (PPN) / Head of Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa conducted a working visit to PT Pindad (Persero) on Friday, November 8th, 2019. The visit was in order to see the company's capability, development and production facilities. The President Director of Pindad, Abraham Mose accompanied by the Board of Directors and Commissioners received the Head of Bappenas and his groups.
The Head of Bappenas in a press conference with reporters expressed his pride over the development of Pindad to the present and explained the concern of the President of the Republic of Indonesia so that more defense equipment will be produced domestically.
"We are proud of Pindad's ability from year to year, there is an amazing trajectory. I came here again to see what Pindad last ability was like. This is also a concern for Mr. President so that most of our defense equipment will be produced domestically because there is still a trend of import. If we have to Import, there must be quite strict requirements, for example there must be counter trait, well-planned Transfer of Technology and TKDN, unless we cannot make it, "Suharso said.
Meanwhile, President Director of Pindad, Abraham Mose delivered a presentation on the profile, capacity and production facilities, achievements and future plans of Pindad. The company also explained the future strategic program for the construction of propellant factories, the construction of the Large Caliber Munitions (MKB) production line, the construction of the combat vehicle production line, the automation and modernization of the weapons production line, capacity building and capability of the Small Caliber Munitions (MKK) production line, the construction of transport truck production lines and advance warfare system.
In addition to defense and security products, Abraham also delivered various developments in industrial business lines such as excavators, electric motorcycles, AMH-o, Pertashop, Fire Fighting Vehicle and Water Cannon.
Suharso Monoarfa appreciated the warm welcome given by the Board of Directors and Commissioners of Pindad. Suharso then visited various production facilities and watched a defile parade of special purpose vehicles made by Pindad consisting of Komodo and Anoa in various variants, Medium tank Harimau, Badak, fire fighting vehicles, water cannons and logistical vehicles. Suharso then tried riding combat vehicles and shooting by using various weapons made by Pindad.
More than 360 Anoa units have been used by the TNI and actively participate in various UN peacekeeping missions in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Sudan (UNAMID), Central Africa (MINUSCA), Congo (MONUSCO). Likewise with the Komodo, as many as 90 units have been used by the TNI and support the UN peacekeeping mission. Weapons and munitions made by Pindad have also been proven to be of good quality with various winning achievements in various international shooting competitions such as AASAM, AARM and BISAM.
Full support from Bappenas and the government is appreciated by Pindad in an effort to improve the ability and quality of products to support the realization of the independence of defense and security in Indonesia, accelerate national development and enter the global market.
