Defense Minister Try to Drive the Latest Pindad Tactical Vehicle in Sentul

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto tried the performance of the latest 4x4 tactical vehicle of PT Pindad (Persero) named "Maung" at Sentul Circuit, Bogor on Sunday, July 12, 2020. The arrival of the Indonesian Minister of Defense was accompanied by Inspector General of Defense Ministry Lieutenant General of the Armed Forces Ida Bagus Purwalaksana , Kabaranahan Ministry of Defense Maj. Gen. Budi Prijono, Director General of Defense Ministry Maj. Gen. Rodon Pedrason, and Asops Kasad, Surawahadi. Chief Executive Officer of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose along with the board of directors welcomed the Minister of Defense and presented the Maung tactical vehicle aimed for infantry troops.

The main advantage of Maung is being able to hit difficult terrain and operate off the asphalt roads. Even so, Maung is still excellent in operating on asphalt roads and is able to maneuver properly. Maung has a safe speed of 120 km/hours, a 6 speed manual transmission and is able to reach distances of up to 800 km. Maung can be equipped with a 7.62 mm weapon bracket, SS2-V4 console, GPS navigation device and vehicle tracker and other equipment.

Maung Testing is a follow-up event from a discussion between the Indonesian Minister of Defense and the CEO of PT Pindad (Persero) on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Sesko TNI, Bandung. During the discussion, the Minister of Defense was interested in testing Maung which was exhibited in conjunction with a Ventilator to be produced by Pindad.

Before starting product testing, Abraham presented Maung in detail by presenting a tactical vehicle along with the Pindad technical team. Initial testing was carried out on flat-on road terrain, namely asphalt roads and paving. Maung is able to move tactically by paying attention to aspects of comfort. Testing on a flat terrain includes several indicators, namely speed, acceleration, rotary maneuver, maneuver number 8, braking and do not forget the safety aspects. Furthermore, Abraham invited the Pindad technical team to demonstrate to release Maung's door, which was carried out easily and in less than five minutes. In this demonstration, Maung can be a variant of a vehicle without a door in a short time, as well as at the time of installation that can be done quickly.

After testing on flat - on road terrain, Maung was tested on difficulties, one of them is off road terrain. The paths taken by Maung are such difficult terrain like small rocky paths, then large rocky paths, steep inclines, muddy roads and slippery plains to shallow rivers. Even though the terrain is difficult, Maung can pass all obstacles and be driven reliably. In fact, Maung was deliberately placed in a muddy lane with the dominance of water to test agility and reliability on difficult and slippery terrain.

Abraham then invited the Minister of Defense when he pleased to be able to test directly by trying to ride a tactical vehicle. An invitation to greet the Minister of Defense is pleased to try to drive directly. At the end of the test, the Defense Minister briefly held a discussion with Abraham Mose and appreciated Maung's performance. He considered that Maung has a good ability to pass through difficult terrain and is suitable for infantry transport vehicles.

The Minister of Defense said that the Ministry of Defense would continue to support the increase in domestic defense equipment production, and support research and development programs so that later all domestic production could be fully independent.
