Minister of Bappenas Senegal Interested in Pindad Products
Technology and Development Director of PT Pindad (Persero) Ade Bagdja received a visit from Senegal's Minister of National Development Planning Agency Dr. Cheikh Kante who was accompanied by the Indonesian Ambassador to Senegal, Mansyur Pangeran at the Head Office of PT Pindad (Persero), Bandung, (6/3/2020). His visit to PT Pindad in the efforts of his country's strategic plan in various fields, one of which was defense.
Dr. Cheikh Kante said that Senegal is a country that is heading towards challenges and a new era towards developing countries. The three dimensions that are the focus of his country at the moment are structural change, human resources and sustainable development, and peace.
He further argued that in order for a country to develop, it needed agriculture, education, health and a good defense system. He revealed that in his country, approximately 20 percent of the state budget was allocated specifically for defense.
"The military recruited is a well trained and armed military." Tante Kante.
Kante further stated that the Senegalese Minister of Defense has now opened opportunities for cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense including PT Pindad in the field of weapons and combat vehicles in order to strengthen the Defense and Security sector in the country of Senegal.
Discussing the potential for cooperation, Ade Bagdja welcomed the offer and said that Pindad would like to share our 37 years of experience with partners to develop the defense industry, be it weapons, special vehicles, or munitions that we have independently developed.
This is in line with PT Pindad's policy this year which is implementing an export policy that is focused on market share to the continent of hope, namely countries in Africa.
