Minister of State-Owned Enterprise: Pindad should Develop Capability on Industrial Sector.

The Indonesian Minister of State-Owned Enterprise, Rini Soemarno, visits PT Pindad (Persero) on Saturday, June 27, 2015. Together with Board of Directors of Constructions State-Owned Enterprise, the President Director of PT Pindad (Persero), Silmy Karim with Board of Commissioners, Board of Directors, and the Management welcome the Minister at Assembly Building of Special Vehicle Division.

On her visit, Rini Soemarno comes to PT Pindad (Persero) to conduct an inspection of excavator project in particular which is currently on going. We, from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprise, want to see directly Pindads excavator project and we also bring the Board of Directors of Constructions State-Owned Enterprises with us since they will be the ones who utilize it. It has been targeted that on August 17, 10 units of Pindads excavator would be ready to undergo monumental projects and take part on it, says Rini on her welcome speech.

The President Director of PT Pindad (Persero), Silmy Karim says that this excavator project is the Companys effort to expand and develop domestic industry capability. This is one of the efforts to promote national industry capability since the more independent a national industry, the more state foreign exchange could be maximized to boost domestic industry, says Silmy. Pindads excavator product is able to operate with guarantee on prioritized after sales services and our price is also competitive, he continues.

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises also says that PT Pindad (Persero) should develop its competencies in commercial products. I am very proud as Pindad is basically a strategic industry of defense, its technology could be applied to various industrial products. Going forward, it has to be directed to develop the research and development capability in commercial products to make Pindad more developed, says Rini.

This statement is well appreciated by Silmy Karim who replies that Pindad always develops itself to reduce the dependencies to import products. Pindad is a full-tech industry hence there would be many new derivatives as the Companys potential in the future. Going forward, we will conduct several strategic development to reduce import so that we could save foreign exchange, Silmy continues.

The Minister of State-Owned Enterprise and her entourage get the opportunity to take a look a demonstration of several special vehicles such as Panser Anoa, Komodo, AMX-13 tank, as well as the star for this event, the excavator. The Minister also signs the engineering drawing of the excavator and the statement of first order, amounted to 100 units of excavator.
