Pindad-Dahana Synergy on Propellant Sector

PT Pindad (Persero) was agreed to buy propellant that produced by PT Dahana (Persero) for Pindads ammunition products. That agreement was signed by the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the propellant purchasing sector. This event was held on September 15^th, 2014 at Pindad headquarter, Bandung. This MoU was signed by PT Pindad (Persero) CEO, Sudirman Said and PT Dahana (Persero) CEO, F Harry Sampurno. This event was attended by PT Pindad (Persero) Board of Directors, PT Dahana (Persero) Board of Directors, and related management team.

According to PT Dahana (Persero) CEO, F Harry Sampurno, the propellant cooperation was a synergy as an effort to establish the independency of defence industry, This is a synergy between Pindad and Dahana to make a long-running cooperation. Pindad has an ammunition product with various caliber and also the biggest filling plant facility in Southeast Asia. Dahana will support the lead integrator performance, until the defense industry independency was established through the land sector and Pt Pindad as the leader. Insya Allah, the land sector defense industry could be more advanced and independence.

PT Pindad (Persero) CEO, Sudirman Said said that this cooperation would help decrease the dependence on imported product, If Dahana realized their propellant factory, Pindad will buy the propellant product from our sibling company, decrease the import needs, as well as addressing the synergy between State Owned Enterprise companies. He was also emphasized that even though this is cooperation between State Owned Enterprise companies, some commercial requirements should be kept, Even though we are sibling, there are some commercial requirements that should be fulfilled, such as quality, reasonable price, and also term of delivery. This is a transaction between siblings but the commercial corridors should be kept,

PT Dahana was had a plan to build first propellant factory in Indonesia. This was one of the proposal from Komite Kebijakan Industri Pertahanan (Committee of Defense Industry Poilicies) of KKIP to have our own propellant factory in Indonesia, to reduce the dependence to imported products and make the production process more efficient. In addition, the competitiveness from the product and also the quality would also be affected.

This cooperation was believed by both CEOs as an effort to achieve the independency of defense industry and there are already a plan to be executed next, We will do a follow up with a technical things and we will keep reminding each other if some problems occurred in the future, said Sudirman Said. The CEO of PT Dahana (Persero) was added, The ammunition factory will be built gradually. The first stage will be built to support Pindad in producing ammunitions. Pindad already had experts in ammunition sector and will help Dahana by giving some inputs, said Harry Sampurno. (Anggia)
