Memorandum of Understanding between PT Pindad and South Australia: Strategic Commitment in Defense I

Located in Bandung, November 16 2015, PT Pindad (Persero) signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Defence Teaming Centre (DTC). This MoU is initial step of the commitment of both parties to hold a strategic cooperation in research, technology development, and marketing of Armored Vehicle. With authorities of South Australian Government, DTC visits the Head Office of PT Pindad (Persero). Such team consists of the Minister of Trade and Defense South Australia Hon. Hamilton Smith MP, Chief Executive Officer DTC Chris Burns, business delegates, and some authorities from South Australia.

In PT Pindad (Persero), the entourage is welcomed b Chief of Technology and Development Ade Bagdja. Ade Bagdja states that this cooperation is one of the strategies to introduce products of PT Pindad (Persero) to Australia. Some of the products are the prominent Assault Rifle SS2 (SS stands for SenapanSerbu in Indonesian language) and combat vehicle. Ade Bagdja also states that his team will keep exploring any opportunity in many aspects. We need to explore further and thorough. Some of it would be product trade and transfer of technology. Australia, in terms of technology, is more leading than PT Pindad. However, it doesnt mean that Pindad has no excellence in technology, says Ade in his welcome speech.

During the visit which also attended by the Vice Governor of West Java, DedyMizwar, South Australia Government conveys their enthusiasm upon the initial cooperation between two companies. Hamilton-Smiths says that South Australia has been interested to Pindad-made combat vehicle. We are interested to several products. One of them is Anoa, says Hamilton-Smith. This visit is one of the steps took by South Australian Government to realizing the strategic cooperation with Asian defense industry, particularly Indonesia. After signing the MoU, the entourage is taken to some of PT Pindad facilities, such as Special Vehicle Division and Weapon Division.
