Indonesia Machining and Transportation Industry Facing 2015 MEA
On the next 2015, the ASEAN Economic Community agreement would be came into force. Domestic competitiveness of Southeast Asian countries should be strengthened in all areas if they still want to compete with each other. Therefore, countries should be settled first. Indonesia, should improve in all areas, in order to be competitive in competing with other countries because the competition would be very open.
To face those challenges, especially on machining and transportation area, the Ministry of Industry was holding the Machining and Transportation Products Exhibition and Seminar. This event was held on September 9th-12th, 2014 and took place at Plaza Industri, Ministry of Industry Building. This event was themed The Domestic Capital Goods Industry on Welcoming the 2015 ASEAN Economic Community Strategy and Development. In addition, this event was held in order to show to the community that Indonesias machining and transportation products have high potential and not losing in terms of quality with imported products and have a good quality that could compete at ASEAN market.
One opportunity and also challenge that quite urgent is the implementation of 2015 ASEAN Economic Community where the flow of goods, services, investment and skilled labor will be free among ASEAN countries, said the Director General of Industri Unggul Berbasis Teknologi Tinggi (Superior Industry Based on High Technology) or IUBTT, Budi Darmadi when he was opening this exhibition. The machining and transportation industry development was directed towards the high precision technplogy and appropriate specification, To face the foreign products in ASEAN free market, the national machinery industry development is directed to high-precision technology or with high precision specifications in accordance with consumer demand both from within and outside the country, ' he explained.
PT Pindad (Persero) as the one of supporting element in Indonesia transportation industry was participated on this exhibition by displaying some of commercial products that support the transportation facilities in Indonesia. Some of those products were Airbrake System, Ramp Winch, DE Clip, E Clip, and 3 MW Generator. Those products were already used by some national companies such as Indonesian Railway, Indonesia Railway Industry, shipping construction industry, and some shipyards. Especially for 3 MW Generator, it was being used by Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (Agency of Assessment and Application of Technology) or BPPT at Unit Bisnis Pembangkitan (Generation Business Unit) or UBP Kamojang.
This exhibition was participated by 26 participants from companies and machining industry association, farm machining industry, health tools industry, and transportation equipments industry. Hopefully, this exhibition could be an event to increase promotion and information spreading about the high competitive and high quality domestic industry ability. (Anggia)
