Defence Rocket Launching at Morotai Island

On December 18^th 2013, had been done the defense rocket launching. This event was held by National Institute of Aeronautics and Space along with National Rocket Consortium which were consisted of Ministry of Research and Technology. Ministry of Defence, and some of State Owned Enterprises Companies such as PT Pindad (Persero), PT Dahana (Persero), and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero).

The Defense Rocket Launching was done in order to explore the appropriateness of the location which planned to be built the satellite-carrier rocket launcher site by the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space. The launcher site which placed at Desa Sangowo, Kecamatan Morotai Timur, Kabupaten Pulai Morotai, Propinsi Maluku Utara was considered suitable for the satellite launcher because its located near the equator.

Some units of defense rocket which launched were 2 units of RHan 122A, 4 units of RHan 122B, and 2 units of RX 2020. On this rocket launching at Morotai, PT Pindad (Persero) was providing rocket and its launcher as a form of support. The result were satisfying, all units of the rocket could launch and functioned properly without a hitch.

Also attended this event were The Regent and Vice Regent of Morotai island, Kasdam 14 Pattimura, Danlanal, Danlanud, Head of National Institute of Aeronautics and Space and several Deputies, and Sesbalitbang of Ministry of Defence. Hopefully, this success of rocket launching could be the beginning of PT Pindad (Persero) success at this rocket development at the future. (Anggia)
