Prime Minister of Malaysia accompanied by Minister of Defence inspect Pindad’s production facilities

Prime Minister (PM) of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yakoob, Minister of Defense of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Hishammudin Tun Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah along with delegation accompanied by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto visited PT Pindad (Persero) Bandung on Thursday, November 11, 2021. The group was welcomed by the CEO of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose along with the BoD and Commissioners at Grha Pindad Bandung. The visit was in order to review the defense industry in Indonesia, especially Pindad’s production facilities and the potential for cooperation that can be carried out to meet the needs of the Royal Malaysian Army (TDM). This event was also attended by Deputy Governor of West Java, Uu Ruzhanul Ulum and Pangdam III Siliwangi, Maj. Gen. Agus Subiyanto.

In this occasion, PM of Malaysia said that this visit was to see the potential for cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia in terms of defense industry.

“Today in Bandung, at PT Pindad, maybe we will achieve something good for both parties in terms of defense industry cooperation,” said PM Malaysia during the visitation.

Abraham Mose warmly welcomed the visit of PM Malaysia and his entourage and hoped that in the future there would be cooperation in the defense sector with Malaysia.

“Welcome, we thank you for the time and appreciation given by MPM of Malaysia and his staff who took the time to come to Pindad on a working visit to Indonesia in order to introduce and present Pindad which is one of national defense industries in Indonesia. We will present at glance regarding Pindad and invite the audience to visit production facilities to see various weapons of combat vehicles produced by Pindad. Hopefully in the future this visit can deliver a good cooperation and succeed in strengthening relations between two countries in defense sector,” said Abraham.

PM of Malaysia and his entourage then do a plant tour to the production facilities and saw various products of Pindad’s weapons and special vehicles including Harimau Medium Tank, Badak, various variants of Komodo, various variants of Anoa, Maung, MV2 and the Pindad’s latest prototype electric motorcycle.

Pindad also displays various types of weapons including various variants of Armo pistols, G2 series (Combat, Elite, Premium), Mag 4, P3A, SPR various variats, SS2V5-A1, Blackout, Dopper and SPM.

Many achievements have been made by Pindad’s flagship products. Among them Pindad weapons and ammunitions used by TNI shooter contingent won various international shooting competitions such as AASAM, AARM and BISAM. Meanwhile, the performance of Special Function Vehicles made by Pindad such as the Anoa 6x6 and Komodo 4x4 have proven their quality and durability because they have been used to support TNI missions not only at home but also abroad (UN Peace Keeping) in various parts of the world such as Lebanon, Congo, Central Africa and Sudan.

Meanwhile, through industrial products, Pinda’s Excava 200 is now available in various variants according to the functions and needs of the field. Pindad has also produced various agricultural machine tools, various transportation infrastructures to mining services. Through its partnership, Pindad has also succeeded in producing an environmentally friendly smokeless incinerator called Stungta x Pindad, which is currently in demand to address the growing medical waste problem amid the Covid-19, Pindad through its subsidiaries has innovated to create various types of ventilators.

PM of Malaysia the day before had also met with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo to discuss various diplomatic agendas between two countries.

“Indonesia and Malaysia will be able to continue to increasing our cooperation. Not only for our bilateral interest but also for regional peace and prosperity,” Jokowi said as quoted from a press release from the Presidential Secretariat. PM of Malaysia visit to Pindad has completed the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) set by the Malaysian and Indonesian Governments.
