Pindad in cooperation with ITB successfully conduct mine explosion test against Anoa

Batujajar - PT Pindad (Persero) conducted a mine explosion test on the Anoa-2 6x6 combat vehicle (ranpur) on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Pussearmed shooting range, Batujajar, West Bandung Regency. The research activity was carried out in the context of testing and certification of the Anoa-2 6x6 explosive-resistant structure, which was funded by LPDP RI. The event was attended by Chief of Technology & Development officer Sigit P Santosa, Chief of Finance & Risk Management officer Triyana, VP PM & K3LH Prima Kharisma, VP Innovation Windu Paramarta, Deputy Commander of the Peacekeeping Mission Center (PMPP) Brigadier General Heru Langlang Buana, representing the Head of the Army Training Center of the Ministry of Defense Colonel Andi Sugiarto, Associate Researcher of the Sumdahan Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Defense Colonel Tek. Gunaryo, Dirbinlitbang Pussenif Colonel Inf. Sunarto, Director of Research and Development of Pussenkav Colonel Kav. Ketut Adi S., Head of Dislitbang AD Head Colonel Fifin, Head of LPIK ITB R. Sugeng Joko Sarwono and the research team.

The purpose of the test is to detonate mines/TNT which are placed under the vehicle hull according to the standard STANAG 4569-AEP-55 volume 2 Level 3B (TNT 8 Kg) to ensure that the survivability of passenger safety is at the level of protection required according to the standard and obtains landworthiness certification. To simulate the vehicle crew, a special Anthropomorphic Test Device (ATD) crash test dummy mannequin was installed in collaboration with FNSS which is equipped with sensors to measure the risk of injury to the vehicle crew so that the ballistic protection feasibility of Ranpur 6x6 Anoa-2 can be evaluated.

The explosive-resistant structure of the Anoa-2 6x6 ranpur was specially prepared to apply the level of protection of the fortification on land, namely by adding an add-on in the form of a V-shape under the vehicle floor between the middle and rear wheels as explained by VP PM & K3LH, Prima Kharisma.

"The concept of the activity here is how we increase the ballistic protection of the Anoa-2 by adding a V-shape for the explosion-resistant structure, later we can see the comparison before detonation and after detonation. Then hopefully we will verify together in accordance with NATO STANAG 4569 especially for burried mine threats or mines with various parameters to be measured," said Prima Kharisma.

Testing and certification also aims to obtain material test data that can be used as material to increase the capability of mine-resistant mines on land in the future.

Chief of Technology & Development officer, Sigit P Santosa in his speech said that Pindad in collaboration with ITB has been able to master renewable technology and has produced patents and scientific publications.

"We hope that by inviting friends from PMPP, ITB, Pussenif, Pussenkav, Research and Development of Ministry of Defense as well as Dislitbang, we really want to create awareness that technology that is actually only available outside us can be produced here through industrial and academic collaboration. We have produced 3 patents along with scientific publications that have been published. I, as the representative of the Board of Directors of PT Pindad, would like to thank all of you for your participation and cooperation, from the research team of Pindad, ITB, Landworthiness and apologize if there are any shortcomings in this collaboration," said Sigit P. Santosa.

"Thank God we finished everything and this is certainly a part that we can make into a model and research at universities that we can directly implement and commercially produce by industry and use by users. Of course Pindad is ready to promote superior research innovations that we can work together,” explained Sigit P. Santosa.

Meanwhile, representing the Head of Army Puslaik Kemhan, Colonel Andi Sugiarto appreciated the progress of collaboration related to this activity which had been initiated 3 years ago.

"On the occasion this morning, we from the Ministry of Defense's feasibility team were present to witness the final stage of the test. I am personally grateful because 3 years ago I was invited and proven up to this point, in our opinion it was extraordinary. Hopefully the activities carried out today This is in line with expectations so that it can really protect personnel from mine blasting so it is safe and we from the public can issue a type certificate and continue with the First Article, which means this product has been tested and has been recognized by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense."

The specifications for the Anoa-2 6x6 mock-up used in the explosion test refer to the technical specifications of the existing Anoa-2 product, which weighs 14.5 tons, dimensions 6 M long, 2.5 M wide, 2.150 M high and is installed with runfllat tires (donut type). The mock-up is also equipped with an additional armor V-shape with an Anoa-2 6x6 armor that weighs around 160 Kg.

Pindad itself had previously carried out a successful mine explosion test against a medium tank vehicle Harimau in July 2018.

With this explosion test, it is hoped that protection against explosions, especially mine protection, can be applied to the Anoa 2 6x6 combat vehicle. The results of the explosion test of the Anoa 2 6x6 combat vehicle will serve as an evaluation and future development for explosion protection on various PT Pindad (Persero) Special Vehicle products.
