PT Pindad and Dislitbangad Test Innovation of New Sniper Munitions

Batujajar - PT Pindad carried out a product certification test for MU2-M A1 & MU2-M A2 caliber 7.62 x 51 mm 175 grains HPBT on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, located at the Dislitbangad Lab & Shooting Range of the Indonesian Army Military Command and Training Center, Batujajar, Bandung Regency. West. The test activity was carried out in the context of testing and certifying PT Pindad's innovative munitions, MU2-M A1 & MU2 in accordance with predetermined SST benchmarks (type requirements) and in the future being able to meet munition needs for all types of standard 7-caliber NATO sniper weapons, 62 x 51 mm. The product certification test activity was attended by the Director of Technology & Development of PT Pindad Sigit P. Santosa, VP PM & K3LH Prima Kharisma, VP Innovation Windhu Paramarta, Kadislitbangad Brigadier General Terry Tresna Purnama and his staff.

The implementation of the certification test for MU2-M A1 & MU2-M A2 munitions is divided into two main activities, namely laboratory tests and field tests. The laboratory test is a test of specifications and technical data of MU2-M A1 & MU2-M A2 munitions products in accordance with the predetermined SST. Laboratory testing activities include testing of weight and dimensions, type of booster and booster sensitivity, type and class of thrust loading, tensile strength of bullets, shell cracks/defects, signs of munitions as well as munitions packaging and bags.

The field test is a product test of MU2-M A1 & MU2-M A2 munitions by firing them using the Pindad SPR 3 sniper rifle, located in the Dislitbangad shooting range & the Pussearmed Kodiklat TNI AD Batujajar shooting range. Field testing activities include testing of bullet speed, bullet speed range, accuracy of fire, average gas pressure, penetrating power of steel plate and smooth working under normal and special conditions (waterproof & resistance to low and high temperatures).

To test the accuracy of shooting with shooting at a distance of 100m & 300m, it is located in the shooting hallway of the Dislitbangad Laboratory. As for shooting at a distance of 600m & 900m, it is located at the Pussearmed Shooting Range of the Batujajar Kodiklatad.

Chief of Technology & Development officer, Sigit P Santosa in his speech said that Pindad has the competence to develop and produce small caliber munitions.

"Today PT Pindad together with Dislitbangad carried out a material test of MU 2 types A1 and A2 cal. 7.62 x 51 mm. The two munitions products that are being tested for certification are PT Pindad's innovation products and will later be produced by PT Pindad's munitions division which located in Turen, Malang. The MU2-M A1 & A2 munitions will later be used by the TNI and Polri units." Sigit P. Santosa explained.

Meanwhile, Kadislitbangad Brigadier General Terry Tresna Purnama appreciated PT Pindad's innovative products and hoped that the MU2-M A1 & MU2-M A2 munitions products could meet the needs of the TNI & Polri.

"Today we carried out a 7.62 mm caliber munition test which is a new breakthrough from PT Pindad. We hope that this munition product can be used for combat standards in sniper rifles (SPR / Sniper). We also hope that this munition product can meet the needs and support the main tasks of the TNI AD and other forces, as well as the Police. After initial checks, this munition has passed and meets the initial specification requirements." Obviously Brigadier General Terry Tresna Purnama.

Located in the same location, Dislitbangad held an exhibition of innovative products along with product certification testing activities for MU2-M A1 & MU2-M A2 munitions. At the exhibition, PT Pindad showcased Maung's 4x4 rantis vehicle, the MotoEV electric motorcycle.

Pindad Maung 4x4 is a 4x4 Light Tactical Vehicle produced by PT Pindad which is intended to support operations and mobilization of close combat and all-terrain cruising. Maung is designed to have agile and reliable maneuverability to support the mobility of its users in various operating fields. With a safe speed of 120 km / h, 6 speed manual transmission, Maung is able to reach a distance of up to 800 km. To support military operations, the Maung can be equipped with a 7.62mm gun bracket, SS2V4 weapon console, GPS navigation device and vehicle tracker and other equipment.

In addition to 4-wheeled vehicle products, Pindad MotoEV is also present, namely PT Pindad's innovative electric motorcycle. The advantage of the MotoEV product is that the driving motor is 100% made by Pindad. This electric motorcycle prototype carries the supermoto concept that uses a universal frame and body. Pindad is still continuing to develop vehicle frames and bodies as well as opening opportunities for collaboration with various competent partners.

PT Pindad also exhibited various weapons products that were innovated by Pindad with Dislitbangad, namely 7.62 x 51 mm caliber dopper guns and 5.56 x 45 mm caliber automatic rifles. Both variants of the weapon have been certified and have reached the first article stage. Using special munitions, dopper weapons are designed and specifically for TNI education & training. The Automatic Rifle (SO) is an automatic shooting rifle with linked bullet specifications and can use a magazine mounted on the side of the weapon console.
