Pindad Collaborating With BPPT to Build Mobile Laboratory Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2)
Bandung - PT Pindad (Persero) established collaboration with BPPT in the field of study, application and engineering of technology marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Chief Executive Officer of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose and Head of BPPT, Hammam Riza on Thursday, July 2 2020. This collaboration aims to conduct assessment and application of technology in Indonesia in order to support the development and development of national industries.
After the signing of the MoU, the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was signed on the development and application of technology design, engineering and manufacturing of Mobile Laboratory Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) on bus vehicles. The PKS was signed by Pindad's Chief Executive Officer, Abraham Mose and Deputy of Industrial Design and Engineering Technology, Wahyu Widodo Pandoe witnessed by the Head of BPPT, Hammam Riza and the Board of Directors of Pindad.
This agreement aims to contribute to objectify the independence of science and technology in the field of health, especially the development of the Mobile Lab (BSL-2) Mobile Bus based technology. The scope of PKS includes the preparation of detailed engineering design, prototype manufacturing, testing, and product development.
In his remarks, Abraham Mose expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between Pindad and BPPT. This meeting is also in the context of build a Mobile Lab (BSL-2) that is very much needed in the Covid-19 pandemic conditions.
"There is a lot of cooperation, contribution and support with BPPT. Today, specifically in the framework of cooperation, one of which is the construction of the Mobile Lab (BSL-2). The construction of a mobile laboratory is a very good breakthrough, seeing the current conditions so that the process must be carried out immediately and is expected to provide many benefits, we will push Pindad internally to accelerate its production, "Abraham said.
In addition, Abraham also said that Pindad was asked to join together with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Industry Indonesia to use Pindad's agricultural and heavy equipment for the opening of new land in Kalimantan which is a government program to support food security.
Meanwhile, the Head of BPPT, Hammam Riza conveyed the intention of implementing the signing of this Cooperation Agreement which was one of the efforts in developing country’s innovation to accelerate the handling of Covid-19.
"Covid-19 requires a process to be handled, prevented, and cut out the distribution chain through testing the SWAB sample, which we know as PCR test. To carry out this PCR test, we need laboratory facilities to carry out testing and tracing, especially areas that become epicenter and remote, which so far, and needs time for the results of the test 7-14 days, "said Hammam Riza.
"Lab Mobile (BSL-2) follows the standards of WHO and the Ministry of Health that guarantees its safety, is accurate and must be certified. Alhamdulillah, the first model was used for mass PCR testing which was also attended yesterday by Kasad, General of the Indonesian Military, Andika Perkasa. BPPT wants to make a downward journey and requires a trusted partner who has the ability, which is Pindad. We hope that with Pindad's ability to be able to improve the quality and quantity of the Mobile Lab (BSL-2) which is then planned to be distributed throughout the Provinces in Indonesia, "continued Hammam Riza.
BPPT also continues to encourage efforts to build ecosystems such as the importance of sovereignty, food independence and health. The driving force, innovators will come from strategic industries, one of which is Pindad.
On the same occasion the signing of an Umbrella Contract was also carried out on production, the provision of a complete package of products and after service Mobile Laboratory Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2). The Umbrella Contract was signed by Pindad's Managing Director, Head of the Technology Service Center, Yenni Bakhtiar.
This agreement aims to contribute to the realization of the independence of manufacturing products in the field of health, especially Mobile Laboratory Biosafety Level 2 technology. The scope of the agreement covers the production of Mobile Laboratory Biosafety Level 2 products, preparation of product completeness, after-sales service provision.
The activity ended with a visit to a production facility. In addition to reviewing production facilities, the Head of BPPT and staff also tried the performance of weapons and combat vehicles made by Pindad.
