Pindad Presented Anoa Panzer Monument to the People of Malang
Coinciding with the celebration of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence celebration, Executive Director of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose, officiated and symbolically presented a 6 by 6 monument of Anoa Panzer to the Municipal Government of Malang in the Taman Trunojoyo on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
The monument was created by national artists to inspire the public, especially to the young people of the city. Abraham Mose explained that the existence of the Anoa Panzer monument would become the pride of the nation; it will also beautify the city of Malang and would be the city’s new tourism icon.
“We hope that the establishment of this monument would become a new pride, as well as a tourism icon, for the people of Malang,” said Mose.
The decision to make Malang as the location of the monument was due to the city close proximity to Pindad’s munitions factory in Turen, in the regency of Malang.
Anoa Panzer for a Peace Mission
Anoa Panzer is a steel armor military vehicle used as an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC). The name Anoa was derived from the name of a type of buffalo living in Sulawesi. The vehicle’s prototype was first publicly exhibited in the 61st anniversary of the Indonesian State Army (TNI).
The 6 by 6 Anoa combat vehicle was also deployed for the Garuda Contingent’s peacekeeping mission in Lebanon in 2010. It was colored in white and added with a United Nation logo on the front.
The combat vehicle does not only function to carry personnel and to withstand the enemy’s moves, the 6 by 6 Anoa also has a superb ability to assault and it also comes with a set of built-in radar. With this kind of features any enemy that comes close would be easily destroyed.
The weapons in the vehicle, whether the 6 by 6 type or the 4 by 4 type, is a 12.7 mm caliber and 7.62 caliber weapons. Furthermore, Anoa Panzer also comes with a 7.62 caliber Remote Weapon System and a 40 mm caliber grenade launcher.
