Pindad Won 2 Awards in Indonesian Good Design Awards 2019

PT Pindad (Persero) won two awards at the Good Design Indonesia (GDI) 2019 event held at the Ministry of Trade on Wednesday, June 26th, 2019. The award-winning product was 5kW BLDC motor designed by Handrian , Adimas Dwi, Irma and Andri Stiyoso and Drainage Cover designed by Yanto Daryanto at GDI Best category. The trophy and certificate were awarded by the Director General of National Export Development, Arlinda,  representing the Indonesian Minister of Trade, Enggartiasto Lukita.

5kW BLDC motor is an electric motor that is intended for electric vehicles, such as electric motorbikes or three-wheeled vehicles. Pindad cooperates with motorbike manufacturers in an effort to support the manufacture of national electric motorbikes.

The total winners were 30 products which were divided into 3 titles, namely GDI of the Year, GDI Best and GDI. All winners of the three titles are divided into 10 categories, namely furniture and home appliances, household appliances, health and hobbies, daily equipments, kitchen utensils, mobility, products for medical care and manufacturing, housing, construction or interior for the commercial and public facilities industry, and media, contents, package.

In her speech, Arlinda stated that GDI 2019 is expected to be able to encourage the emergence of Indonesian products in the international market.

"This award is expected to encourage the emergence of innovative design-based Indonesian products that gain global recognition in order to be able to compete internationally," Arlinda said.

The winners of GDI 2019 will advance to G-Mark international design competition on July 30th to August 1st, 2019 in Tokyo, Japan. Hopefully, the design of local products, especially Pindad, can speak louder internationally. Indonesian products, go forward! (Ryan)
