PT PINDAD (PERSERO) COOPERATES WITH RHEINMETALL DENEL MUNITION PROPRIETARY LIMITED TO BE GLOBAL AMMU
PT Pindad (Persero) as the main producer of defence products in Indonesia, is the main supplier of weaponry system products for Indonesian National Armed Forces and Indonesian National Police. To support that role, cooperation with other defence company that could support company performance to produce high quality weaponry products is needed.
Therefore, PT Pindad (Persero) and Rheinmetall Denel Munition Proprietary Limited (RDM) will sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 71th, 2014 at Shangrilla Hotel, Jakarta at 11 AM. This MoU will signed by President Director of PT Pindad (Persero) Sudirman Said and Chief Executive Officer of RDM, Nobert Schulze and also Executive Manager New Business Development of RDM, David Rogers.
This MoU signing was intended to establish a framework of cooperation between PT Pindad (Persero) and RDM in developing long-running business in the field of ammunition in Indonesia. Some points that discussed in this MoU are the cooperation in the ammunition field with various calibres based on Pindads ammunition to fulfill Indonesian Armed Forces requirements in Indonesia, in such calibres which required by PINDAD, case by case; building ammunition co-manufacturing at PT Pindad (Persero) production facilities; transferring the use of technology relating to ammunitions; and PT Pindad (Persero) potential as the HUB manufacturing at Asia Pasific region.
This cooperation is expected could increase the weaponry products fulfillment in more comprehensively and with a better quality. The improvement of PT Pindad (Persero) capability through the Transfer of Technology process and PT Pindad (Persero) potential as the HUB manufacturing at Asia Pasific region could increase company competitiveness at the region. RDM cooperation with PT Pindad (Persero) will make us more competitive as well as easier for us to compete in grabbing market potential, said Nobert Schulze. Pindad will prepare the basic infrastructure and human resources related to long caliber ammunition production which will be produced along with RDM. Location that was chosen is Ammunition Division at Turen, Malang.
On this cooperation framework, RDM was agreed to build academy or training agency in order to increase human resources quality of PT Pindad (Persero). At the beginning stage, we will invite the trained personnel from PT Pindad (Persero) to study together at our academy at South Africa, so that the transfer of technology and ability enhancement process can be carried out simultaneously to fill the Asia Pasific market, Nobert Schulze continued. President Director of PT Pindad (Persero), Sudirman Said, happily welcomed the idea because it reflects the enthusiasm for learning for PT Pindad (Persero) staffs to fulfill the Law Number 16 Year 2012 about Defence Industry which some points covered PT Pindad (Persero) business growth as the qualified defence industry player not only to fulfill domestic needs but also for global scale. What we begin today with our partners from RDM be our early step to move forward to the next stage for PT Pindad (Persero) development as defence industry to fulfill the Defence Laws, said Sudirman Said.
