Pindad Signs Contract for Boat Tank Development

PT Pindad (Persero) signed a Tank Boat development project contract on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Ministry of Defense, Jakarta. The contract was signed by the Director General of Defense Potential (Dirjen Pothan), represented by the Secretary General of Pothan, Brigadier General Aribowo Teguh Santoso and Pindad Managing Director, Abraham Mose.

PT Pindad (Persero) acts as a Lead Integrator consortium and weapon system provider who is responsible for ensuring specifications and designs that are appropriate for the user. Pindad is also responsible for the Tank Boat management program and integrates its weapons system.

PT Lundin Industry Invest is responsible for the Ship Platform (machinery, systems and electrical), PT Len Industri (Persero) is responsible for making Communication Devices (Alkom), while PT Hariff Daya Tunggal Engineering is responsible for the Battlefield Management System (BMS).

After the R & D is completed, the next follow-up is to immediately produce and market it so that it can be immediately used to strengthen TNI defense equipment in maintaining the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. Pindad is also studying export potentials to other countries.

Expectations from this collaboration in the future Tank boat can be used to meet the needs of the TNI in carrying out operations of swamps, sea, river and coast (Ralasuntai) as well as the duty of guarding the sea and coast (Sea and Coast Guard) in accordance with the ideals of the Indonesian government to maintain sovereignty and maintain territorial waters of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). At present illegal fishing activities are still prone to occur in some border waters such as the Malacca Strait, the Sulawesi Sea and which were crowded some time ago, the Natuna Sea.

Tank Boat can accommodate 5 crew and 60 troops, has a fuel capacity of 6,000 liters of fuel, can operate with a minimum water depth of 120 cm and is able to go with a maximum speed of ± 40 knots. The presence of a multifunctional Tank Boat in various waters and equipped with the latest technology and a variety of modern weaponry namely 12.7 mm caliber weapons and 30mm caliber Canon RCWS weapons will strengthen Indonesia significantly.
