Pindad’s Medium Tank Mobility And Performance Test

After going through the Mine Explosion Resistance Test with satisfactory results, this time the Medium Tank produced by a joint development between Pindad and Turkish FNSS conducted a mobility test on 7-16 August 2018.

This test was attended by VP Quality Assurance & K3LH, Isrady Sofiansyah and Kasubdismat (Head of Sub Dissertation Material) Dislitbangad, Colonel Cpl. Prihandoko. Medium Tank is a long program in building technology mastery towards independence.

Various tests carried out in this mobility test include: on road, off road, sand crossing, 3 x 24 hours cruising test, etc. The route passed from Bandung to Subang, Sarangan, Yogyakarta, Kebumen and back to Bandung. On August 11, 2018 the tests included low speed tests, unraveled dry sand cross tests, sandy hill crossing tests, shrubs and combat light tests.

This test aims to determine the mobility performance of Medium Tank capabilities in good condition, meet design requirements and specifications. This test series is a certification activity carried out by Dislitbangad and supported by PT Pindad (Persero) and FNSS as test partners.

Next the firing test will be carried out on August 27-30, 2018. The test circuit meets the requirements and specifications possessed by the TNI to complete the Technical Performance Capability of the Medium Tank.

After the Test Series is complete, it is expected that this Medium Tank will soon be able to fill the TNI's need for modern defense equipment.

Specification

Pindad's medium tanks and the latest FNSS have the latest ballistic defense and anti-threat defense capabilities. The latest generation of medium tanks are equipped with extensive combat power ranging from close range protection for infantry forces to combat between combat vehicles.

Pindad medium tank has a weight of 32 tons, power of 20 HP / ton, a maximum speed of 70 km / hour, can accommodate 3 crew consisting of commanders, shooters and drivers, and has a main weapon of 105 mm caliber turret which has a large destructive power.

Medium tanks are equipped with the latest technologies, such as independent alert systems, hunter killer systems, laser warning systems, battle management systems, and level 5 protection. Medium tank turrets have an autoloader mechanism with 12 bullets in a turret and 26 bullets backup inside hull.

Medium tank designs are made according to the requirements of the users, based on modern battle strategies where the ease of mobilization of the medium tank is one of the advantages in addition to its own capabilities.
