TANK BOAT 105MM PRESENTED AT INDO DEFENCE 2016

PT PINDAD (PERSERO) introduced its newest product, “Tank Boat 105mm,” at the event ‘Indo Defence’, 2 – 5 November 2016 in Kemayoran, Jakarta. This newest combat platform was an outcome from a collaboration among Pindad, PT Lundin Industry Invest, and CMI Defence of Belgia. “We are delighted with the presence of this new product to support the function of our national defense,” said Defense Minister of Republic of Indonesia Ryamizard Ryacudu after visiting Pindad’as booth.

President Director of Pindad, Abraham Mose, emphasized that the tank boat product was a translated from Indonesia’s geographical condition and challenge which has thousands of islands and waters. “We are trying to combine the concept of heavy arms caliber 105mm in a water vehicle that is able to move fast and have incredible pounding power,” he stated.

Tank Boat 105mm was made from composite with catamaran (double hull) boat platform. Lengths 18 meter with diesel machine made by MAN, tank boat is able to speed up to 40 knots from shallow waters at about 1 meter until high seas. The combat platform is also armed with Remote Control Weapon System (RCWS) with caliber 7.62mm along with nadir and sophisticated navigation system.

John Lundin of PT Lundin  who was involved in designing the body of the tank boat added that this combat platform has the cruising range of 400 nautical mile (nm) at 30 knot and 600 nm at 90 knot. “It is like it can cross the Java Sea for an assignment in other islands or border areas up to rivers and rural areas like in Papua which have wider tributary like Mamberamo or swamps,” he added.

CEO CMI Defence, Jean-Luc Maurange, who was also present at the opening of Indo Defence 2016 exhibition, informed that turret 105mm they are going to put on the Tank Boat was a part of cooperation program of Pindad and CMI Defence to develop turret 90mm up to 105mm. “We added the function and capability to operate in water (marinized turret) in our newest product for this tank boat,” he added. The production of the turret 105mm will take place at Pindad factory in Bandung, West Java.
