Indonesia &India Boost Stronger Defence Industry Cooperation

JAKARTA, Indonesia & India have embarked on a stronger relationship in the defence industry sector. Pindad, a state-owned company whose main products are land defence systems and weapons systems, sealed strategic partnership with Tata Group and Bhukhanvala Industries. On the occasion of PM Modi’s visit to Jakarta, Wednesday 30th May 2018, those strategic initiative marked by the launch of a water cannon unit joinlty manufactred by Pindad & Tata Group.

Whereas Bhukanvala has presented a creramic-based ballistic protection for Pindad’s land vehicle platforms, as well as exploring further opportunities to assist Pindad to offer its Small Arms weapon products namely 5,56mm assault rifle called SS2 series, 5,56mm subsonic assault riffle SS2 V7, 9mm pistol of G2 series and a .338 sniper rifle to the Indian Defence and Paramilitary Forces.

CEO Pindad, Abraham Mose, admits the strategic partnership will elevate Pindad's significant foot-print in defence industry. "Both for domestic market to support Indonesian Armed Force, Police, or regional / global market as we will have strong partner with these Indian companies," says Abraham. Bhukhanvala Industries’ Managing Director, Niraj P. Bhukhanwala,  acknowledges Abraham's remarks, and adds that, the upcoming market opportunities in India, Indonesia  and the Region, will bring more benefit for both companies. "I can assure you our full commitment not only to sell our state of the art armour solutions here in Indonesa, but also to do joint investment to promote Pindad's fine weaponry systems in Asia and the  global market," asserts Niraj.

Pindad's weapon system has consistently assisted Indonesian Army Team to win numerous prestigious international military shooting competition. Recently the Indonesian Army returned home with 36 gold medals, 24 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals, from the AASAM held in Australia. "It has been 11 years in a row our Army Team won the AASAM Championship, and they have been relying upon our weapons too," says Abraham. 

During the visit in Jakarta, PM Modi, and President Joko Widodo, have shown their enthusiasm of Pindad's products that were showcased to the leaders. Both Leaders in the joint statement admitted that defence industry is one of the key strategic initiatives where the two countries are seeking for a growing relationship.
