Dirtekbang Pindad lecture material about STEM to students of Defense Mathematics program of UNHAN
Chief of Technology and Development officer of PT Pindad (Persero), Ade Bagdja became a guest lecturer for students of Defense Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Defense RI TA. 2021 with the theme “Task, Role and Responsibilities of PT Pindad (Persero) in the Development of National Defense from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Perspective” which was held online on Monday, July 12, 2021 from Pindad Office Bandung.
Besides Dirtekbang of PT Pindad (Persero), the Head of Center for Mathematical Modeling and Simulation (P2MS) of Bandung Institute of Technology, Dr. Saladin Uttunggadewa also became a guest lecturer at Defense University today.
On this occasion, Ade Bagdja started the topic with Independence of the Defence Industry. He explained the definition, aspects and understanding of the concept of independence in defence sector which was marked by the formation of Defend ID which consisted of Indonesian defense industry. Ade Bagdja said the establishment of Defend ID was in line with KKIP of Ministry of Defense in order to maximize the development of a strong, advanced, independent and leading defense industry in global market.
Through his presentation, Ade Bagdja the explain the implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at PT Pindad (Persero). He explained that STEM is very much needed at Pindad because the defense industry has a very high content of science, mathematics and engineering. “From mathematics, we apply it a lot in every aspect of production. For example, ballistic is a technique of advanced mathematics. We will not have the knowledge of ballistic engineering, cannot explore material or explosive engineering without basic science knowledge. Pindad in the future wants to have an integrated weapon system to fulfil the needs of national defense and security that can increase competitiveness in several aspects, such as through technological excellence, innovation with the latest technology, strategic partnerships both at home and abroad,” Ade Bagdja explained.
Closing this activity, Ade Bagdja said that Indonesia has the ability to excel in terms of defense and security and the need for cooperation from all parties in order to achieve the hope of jointly developing Indonesia.
