President Director of Pindad Discusses Commercialization of Innovation in Commemoration of the 41st

The President Director of PT Pindad (Persero) was the main speaker at the Commemoration of the 41st Anniversary of the BPPT (Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology) held at the BPPT Office, Jakarta (21/8). The commemoration theme of the BPPT Anniversary is the Development of Science and Technology Human Resources Defenders of Economic Growth Towards an Advanced Indonesia Fair and Prosperous Independent.

This can be interpreted that human resources, especially those with knowledge of science and technology, are one of the basic assets of national development.

In his welcoming speech BPPT Hammam Riza said that innovation and technology services really needed to be supported by the development of quality human resources (HR). The development of human resources has also been emphasized in the Indonesian Vision Speech 2019-2024, to become the theme of the 74th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Advanced Indonesian Superior HR.

With a presentation entitled "Increased Competitiveness Through Downstreaming and Commercialization of BPPT Innovations", Abraham Mose explained that innovation and technology are needed in the defense industry. Strategic cooperation between PT Pindad (Persero) and BPPT supports the birth of various innovative Indonesian defense equipment products, one of which is APS 1, a 4-wheeled combat vehicle.

The series of developments that have been carried out with BPPT resulted in improvisation in APS 1 to become Anoa, a 6x6 combat vehicle that has been trusted for various missions in the unity of the TNI and even trusted in the World Peacekeeping Mission initiated by the United Nations. Abraham also explained the various products of PT Pindad (Persero) which were the result of innovation from development, including SS2 V4, Amphibious Excavators and Tiger Medium Tank.

One of the strategic partnerships between PT Pindad (Persero) and BPPT is water cannon vehicles, which have passed the certification test and will be used by the National Police. Ending his presentation, Abraham concluded that innovation that is adapted to current needs, especially in the defense industry, is very important in maintaining the continuity of the company's business. In addition, synchronization and strategic cooperation are needed to support the downstreaming and commercialization processes.

The Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lt. Gen. Doni Monardo was also present as a speaker at the BPPT Anniversary Commemoration. In his presentation, Doni Monardo emphasized the important role of researchers especially in the scope of the BPPT to support BNPB in establishing an innovation system for disaster mitigation based on a series of natural events and disasters that occur at this time.
