Defence Industry Synergy

The user needs of weaponry system products and the defence industry capability, need a good synergy so that the fulfillment of those products could run in accordance with the plan which arranged by the decision makers. To reinforce this synergy, was held the Defence Industry and KKIP Gap Analysis Meeting at PT Pindad (Persero) Auditorium on May 13^th 2014. This meeting was led by KKIP Chief of Executive Team Admiral (Retd.) Sumardjono and attended by the members of KKIP team, user representatives, and industries representatives which help PT Pindad (Persero) production process. For internal guests, this event was attended by Board of Directors and related high level officials. 

The gap analysis meeting was held to build the constructive relationship between industry, user, and decision makers. Early coordination with users of each dimension had also been carried out in order to detect the weaponry system product needs to further discussed with industries concerning the readiness and production capability for the fulfillment. If there was a gap between the industry capability and users needs, then will be considered the ways to work on it, fulfill it, even surpass it. KKIP would coordinate the needs of weaponry system products, the big plan about the weaponry system products, and the industry capability to be reported to some supporting parties such as the Ministry of Finance and Badan Perencana Pembangunan Nasional (National Development Planning Agency) or Bappenas.

President Director of PT Pindad (Persero) Tri Hardjono said that as the main supplier of weaponry system products to Indonesia National Armed Forces, Pindad is ready to fulfill the needs of the Army through weapon, ammunition, and special vehicle products. The good synergy between State Owned Enterprises for Strategic Industry companies and supporting industries would create a strong defence industry in Indonesia. Along with that, Pindad was hoped the full support from users and also from Ministry of Defence. Some new production facilities were added to increase the production capability for weapon and ammunition products to fully support the mobility and fire power of the Army at the battle field. 

In this meeting, some industries that support Pindad production activity were declared ready to continue to provide assistance to support the fulfillment process of weaponry system products that made by PT Pindad (Persero). Hopefully, the expected synergies could be reached and made a strong and independent defence industry, but still upholding the product quality. (Anggia)
