Ignasius Jonan : Pindad Should be Able to Stand on Its Own

President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Indonesian Railway) or KAI (Persero), Ignasius Jonan was visited PT Pindad (Persero) on Friday, August 22^nd 2014. They were accepted by PT Pindad (Persero) CEO, Sudirman Said and Board of Directors at Machinery Division and henceforward visited Forging and Casting Division to see some production facilities where the products of the railway infrastructure and facilities that had become binding cooperation between PT Pindad (Persero) and PT KAI (Persero) were produced.

After the visits to production facilities were ended, the delegation were accepted at Auditorium, Directorate Building. On his speech, PT Pindad CEO, Sudirman Said said that welcomed the visit from PT KAI (Persero) and hoped that this visit could strengthening the cooperation that have been long established, We are pleased to welcome the arrival of colleagues as well as customer of PT Pindad, Mr. Jonan and team. The cooperation between Pindad and KAI have established for a long time, but we want some enhancement, hopefully we can make a long term cooperation for the virtues of the both sides.

He also added that currently, PT Pindad (Persero) was on organization improvement process and also tried to add some volume on commercial industry production capacities, Pindad is currently keep improving. The basic things such as safety, cleanliness, and neatness of the factory are under our managing so that the production processes are more organized. We also build extra volume on the commercial industry products.

President Director of PT KAI (Persero), Ignasius Jonan was also welcomed the enhancement plan by suggesting the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing about the continuous cooperation, We will do some MoU cooperation drafting this week about what product that KAI want to order from Pindad. If it fits, the order would be made not in multi years, but continuously for some products such as clips and railways infrastructures. We will start with the best products and able to be produced by Pindad.

In addition to a couple of points about cooperation,, Ignasius Jonan was also shared some matters that related to improvement which was being done by PT Pindad (Persero). Colleagues in Pindad should not be give up, because this is a big thing to posses. It used to be just a few people who believe KAI may change. But our earnings go up twice and a manpower cost us up to 300% with the amount of labor that also increased 10%.

He was also gave advice to Pindad to continue developing production facilities for commercial industrial sector by doing the modernization of production facilities and production efficiency in order to produce a competitive product prices in the world market. He was also suggesting that Pindad should be more competitive in a middle of globalization era and ASEAN free trade that would be started. Never thought that Pindad dont have any rivals, its a wrong proposition. AFTA will commence and will definitely spread to the defense industry. Everything is completely open, if it is not creative industry the solution is only efficiency.

Pindad should settled itself, should rise by its own, should strive independently for the survival of the next generation. Efficiency and product quality are the ultimate key, added by him.
