Menristek reviews the result of R&D on defense and non-defense products
Minister of Research and Technology (Menristek) / Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro Ph.D. along with his entourage made an industrial visit to PT Pindad (Persero) on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Chief Executive Officer of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose and the Board of Directors, VP and GM welcomed the Minister of Research and Technology and his entourage at Head Office of Pindad Bandung. The visit of Menristek this time was in order to review the result of Research and Development and innovations made by Pindad on both defense and non-defense products.
In his remarks, Menristek, Bambang Brodjonegoro expressed his appreciation for the development of technology of Pindad that related to defense and non-defense products and wanted to know the development of Pindad’s R&D results until now.
"Previously, I visited here when I served as Head of Bappenas to
appreciate the development of Pindad technology, starting from Anoa, Medium Tank
Harimau and the quality of weapons and munitions. Currently, as the Minister of
Research and Technology, I want to know to what extent Pindad has developed the
results of R&D and innovation in the development of products related to defense
and non-defense. One of them is excavator as well as agricultural machine tools
which is needed for the agricultural sector. During the pandemic, Pindad was
also involved in making ventilators. Hopefully Indonesia's defense can continue
to be supported by Pindad and Menristek will continue to support whatever we
can in the field of research and technology, "said Bambang Brodjonegoro.
Abraham Mose appreciates the support from Menristek / BRIN for the advancement of the domestic defense industry and hopes to continue to improve the cooperation that has been well established so far. Abraham then explained a brief profile of the company as well as the company's R&D products, both for defense and non-defense.
Then Menristek, Bambang Brodjonegoro said that currently the government expects
Indonesia to be able to produce electric buses, large and medium. Currently the
National Innovation Research Agency (BRIN) is conducting integrated research to
support the electric car program which is then carried out with 5 universities.
"Perhaps Pindad can contribute to vehicle development, especially its components. The consortium of 5 universities is ready to cooperate, so that they can produce electric buses that are truly Indonesian products, "Bambang explained.
As for some of the research and development products of Pindad's collaboration through funding with the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education / Ministry of Research and Technology / National Agency for Research and Innovation, namely: Rocket D230 - RX 1210 - RHAN 122B, Cloud Seeding Agent Tube (CoSAT 1000) - Ejectable Cloud Seeding Agent Powder (ECoSAP), equipment for calculating mortar firing / Mortar Counting Machine (MHM), Ranpur Badak Kanon 90 mm Certification, Pindad Hydraulic Excavator 20 Tons. The development of Can Bus-based Combat Vehicle integration control system, industrialization of Synchronous Generator 300 KVA 1500 RPM 400V 50 HZ Marine Generator, development of Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS) for tire-wheel combat vehicles, application of Thermoplastic Polymer material as component of Handheld Weapons, acceleration of vehicle technology mastery Tactical Water Canon Polri, development of Track Link Medium Tank components for the forging process, development of electric vehicle powertrain for mass transportation with a capacity of 100 MW, manufacturing of 8 MW 11 kV Coil Generator prototypes, improvement of 5 kW BLDC Motor Inverter for electric motorbikes, development of 1.5 kW Powertrain as a rear wheel drive for electric pedicabs as well as the manufacture of Fe 2% Ni Metal Injection Molding (MIM) feedstock materials in order to support the independence of raw materials for weapon components.
