Pindad is Preparing to be Global Ammunition Producer

PT Pindad (Persero) as the defence products producer in Indonesia was signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of cooperation framework at ammunition field with Rheinmetall Denel Munition Proprietary Limited (RDM). The signing was carried out on August 7th 2014 at Shangrilla Hotel, Jakarta. PT Pindad (Persero) was represented by its CEO Sudirman Said while RDM was represented by Chief Executive Officer Nobert Schulze.

This MoU was signed as basic of cooperatioon between both parties on developing long running business on ammunition field. Moreover, this cooperation would be focused on the development of long calibre ammunition started from 60 mm until 155 mm calibre. The cooperation would include Pindad appointment as RDM HUB Manufacturing for Asia Pacific region, ammunition transfer use of technology which would be carried out by conducting expert exchange to ammunition academy that belonged to RDM at South Africa, and RDM co-manufacturing building at PT Pindad (Persero) ammunition production facilities at Turen, Malang.

CEO of PT Pindad (Persero) Sudirman Said was welcoming this cooperation cooperated with RDM as an experienced company at more over 84 countries in the world, could help increasing the product quality and would positively affected the ammunition business quality of the company. The ammunition production facilities would also be the largest in Southeast Asia, considering there are not many manufacturers of ammunition in the region. The exchange of experts to the Academy or ammunition training agency would help increase the number and ability of experts of PT Pindad (Persero) to challenge the bigger markets.

This cooperation would be formed into a joint venture. For the next step, would be formed a team that consisted of both parties to discuss the detail plan about the business development on the next 3-4 months. After the detail plan was revealed, the technical plan would be discussed including the working coverage for each party of this cooperation. PT Pindad (Persero)s CEO was emphazised that this cooperation was not only as local partners in managing permission, but also as partner that truly developing industry. (Anggia)
