Winning 4th place, the Board of Directors Appreciates the Innovator Team at the 2020 MIS BUMN Event

President Director of PT Pindad (Persero), Abraham Mose and the Board of Directors gave appreciation to the Pindad innovator team which was ranked 4 in the final standings of the BUMN Millennial Innovation Summit (MIS) 2020 from category Technology Breakthrough on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in the Auditorium Room of Pindad Bandung.

The award was given to the Pindad innovator team consisting of Prima Kharisma I.Y, Shofi Muktiana S, Denny Lesmana, Pungki Sukmana P, and Mahmed Vincent. Pindad's innovation entitled "New Propellant Pilot Plant Made from Paper Waste" was successfully on 4th position out of 4,094 national scale innovations in the Technology Breakthrough category at BUMN MIS 2020.

Abraham Mose expressed his gratitude and pride to the Pindad’s Innovator Team. Abraham said that 2020 is the year of Pindad's innovation and the Pindad’s team in MIS 2020 proved that Pindad's young engineers are able to produce superior products.

"This achievement proves that Pindad is not just a manufacturing company, not only an assembling company but also can create innovations that everyone can be proud of. We can't compete if we don't have the ability to innovate. " Abraham explained.

Abraham Mose then delivered a message from the entire Board of Directors for not to stop here, continue to innovate to make Pindad grow in the future and produce useful products. Prima Kharisma, as a representative of the Pindad’s innovator team, said that he did not expect to be in a 4th place. Prima said that the writing of the New Propellant Pilot Plant idea made from paper waste was aimed at advancing the company.

Prima explained that the idea of ??a paper-based propellant originated from the search for alternative sources of cellulose. The team also sees that paper is one of the biggest waste contributors in Indonesia. And it is known that paper is a good source of cellulose to be synthesized into nitrocellulose. From the research results that Prima has done, the nitrocellulose synthesis results can be seen the nitrogen content. For application in the military or propellant aspect, nitrocellulose must have a nitrogen content of 12.6%. When the synthesis process is carried out using paper, it turns out that after going through the optimization of the process, paper waste can obtain nitrocellulose with nitrogen levels above 13%. This result is what makes Prima and the team members optimistic about using the innovation of the New Propellant Pilot Plant Made from Paper Waste to advance to MIS 2020.

Shofi Muktiana added, the most important thing from the BUMN Millennial Innovation Summit 2020 is experience and enthusiasm, and hopefully this can be a trigger to produce innovation in future opportunities.
