Pindad President Director Witnesses the Signing of the MoU on Logistics and the Defense Industry Bet

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia entered into a cooperation agreement with the Government of the Republic of the Philippines concerning cooperation in the logistics and defense industries. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Director General of Defense Potential (Dirjen Pothan) of the Ministry of Defense, Bondan Tiara Sofyan with the Undersecretary for Finance and Material, Department of National Defense Philippines, Mr. Raymundo Dv Elefante on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Jakarta Ministry of Defense office. This activity was witnessed by Pindad's Managing Director, Abraham Mose along with officials of the Ministry of Defense and Directors of other defense industries.

The two countries agreed on the formation of cooperation in the logistics and defense industries. This collaboration aims to strengthen the defense industry collaboration in particular the procurement of defense equipment and other defense industry products. The scope of cooperation includes supply, service, maintenance, transportation and facilities as well as research and development.

The MoU is very much needed related to the participation of Indonesia's strategic industry in this case PT Pindad (Persero) and other defense industries for procurement of defense equipment in the Philippines with Government to Government (G to G) mechanisms. In the future there will be more potential for defense equipment cooperation carried out by other defense industries that can provide mutual benefits for both parties.

Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto also some time ago offered the Tiger Medium Tank and defense and security products made by Pindad to the Philippines on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) Meeting (ADMM) 2019 Retreat and 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Medium Tank 105 mm Kanon Tiger is the latest product combat vehicle from PT Pindad (Persero) supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense in accordance with the needs of the Indonesian National Army (TNI). Tigers have the latest ballistic defense and mine threat capabilities. This latest generation medium tank is equipped with extensive combat capabilities ranging from close range protection to infantry to combat fighting vehicles.

This signing is expected to strengthen the cooperation that has been established so far. Previously, Indonesia and the Philippines had established cooperation including cooperation in the fields of operations and training, education and training, maritime, border security, joint training of maintenance of ASEAN and regional countries and information exchange.
