Lines of cool products of Indonesian SOEs Defense Industry

SOEs of the Defense Industry is READY to welcome the independence of defence industries, especially in the fulfilment of the Defense and Security Equipment Tools (Alpalhankam), as well as the fulfilment of the Main Tools of the Defense System. This was confirmed by Tazar Marta Kurniawan, Director of Technology at PT Len Industri (Persero) in Bandung, Tuesday, May 25, 2021.

According to Tazar, who was also appointed as the coordinator of information technology for the SOEs of Defense Industry that include PT Len Industri (Persero), PT Pindad (Persero), PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero), PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) and PT DAHANA (Persero) is noted to have defense products that compete with defense products in the global market.

“Among the domestically made defense products, among others, Maung (Pindad), KRI Semarang (PAL Indonesia), CN 235-220 (Indonesian Aerospace), Communication Tactical Datalink Link System/CTDLS (Len Industri) and Bomb P Series (DAHANA),” said Tazar Marta Kurniawan.

Maung is a light tactical vehicle 4x4 intended to support close combat operations and cruising difficult terrain. With a compact design, Maung can move with agile and reliable. Maung’s safe speed is at 120km/h with a mileage of 800km. In addition, Maung is also equipped with a 7.26mm weapon bracket, an SS2-V4 weapon console, a GPS navigation device and a vehicle tracker and other equipment.

KRI Semarang, which had been built by PAL, began to operate in Indonesia waters with a captain from the Indonesian Navy and headquartered at Dermaga Ujung Koarmada II Surabaya. KRI Semarang-594 has a length specification of 124.00 meters with a width of 21.80 meters, a weight of 7200 tons, and a cruising speed of 14 knots, and is capable of sailing endurance for 30 days.

“In addition, KRI Semarang-594 is equipped with two Landing Craft Utilities (LCS) vessels capable of transporting 8 Anoa units, 28 trucks, 3 helicopters, and reinforced with 121 crew members and 650 soldiers,” Tazar continued.

Meanwhile, the CN235-220 is an aircraft produced by PT Dirgantara Indonesia which is proven to be tough to carry out various special missions such as Search and Rescue (SAR), supervision of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), prevention and control of marine surveillance and security, Anti-Sea Surface Warfare (ASuW) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW). From previous experience, the CN235-220 with full capability can last more than 11 hours, while the time on station in a radius of 200 NM is more than 9 hours.

The Communication Tactical Datalink Link System (CTDLS) made by PT Len Industri in a modern defense system based on Network Centric Warfare is used as a means of exchanging tactical data between elements or dimension, that are sea, land, and air elements to the Command and Control Center (Puskodal). The communication system is equipped with anti-jamming and anti-intercept security features in the form of encryption security and frequency hopping with the TDMA (Multi Participant unit) concept.

The next product is the P Series Bomb which consists of the P-100L, P-250L and P-500L bombs, which are designed to be used on NATO standard aircraft and Russian standars. Having many advantages with its local content, the P Series Bombs made by DAHANA have been used by the Indonesian Air Force.

When concluded, PT Len Industri (Persero) will focus on the C5ISR Platform along with MRO and 3-dimensional integration solutions (interoperability) through Network Centric Warfare. PT Pindad (Persero) has a focus on land-based platforms, MRO and the provision of weapons and munitions, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) with a focus on airbone and MRO platforms, PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) with a focus on developing marine and MRO units, and PT DAHANA (Persero) with a focus on product development of energetic materials (explosives/propellants) for all defense dimensions.

“SOEs that are members of the Defense Industry Holding have segmentation according to their respective core competencies and synergize with each other,” conclude Tazar. (*)
