Pindad’s Special Purpose Vehicles Enlivened The Defense Vehicle Parade Commemorating the 74th TNI An

Jakarta - Combat Vehicles and Tactical Vehicles maufactured by PT Pindad (Persero) took part in enlivening the defense vehicle parade at the 74th anniversary of the TNI (Indonesian Armed Forces) on Saturday, October 5th at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo led the 74th TNI Anniversary ceremony attended by the TNI Commander, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Army Chief of Staff, General Andika Perkasa, Air Forces Chief of Staff, Marshal Yuyu Sutisna, Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Siwi Sukma Adji, and the President Director, Abraham Mose, the Board of Directors and the Board of Commissioners of Pindad.

Combat Vehicles and Tactical Vehicles maufactured by PT Pindad (Persero) that follow the series of defense vehicle parade consisted of 69 units of Anoa 6x6 APC type, 2 units of 4x4 Komodo, 3 units of Komodo 4x4 Missile Launcher type, 1 unit of Medium Tank Harimau, 1 unit of Badak 6x6 and 2 units of Combat Vehicle 8x8 .

Anoa 6x6 APC (Armored Personnel Vehicle) type is the first generation of combat vehicles from Pindad which has advantages in mobility, protection and haulage. Anoa APC type has a total capacity of 12 personnels, equipped with communication systems and automatic steering transmission. Anoa is able to reach a maximum speed of 80 km/h on the highway with a cruising range of 600 kilometers. More than 360 Anoa units have been used by the TNI and actively participate in various UN peacekeeping missions in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Sudan (UNAMID), Central Africa (MINUSCA), and Congo (MONUSCO).

Komodo 4x4, a 4-wheeled tactical vehicle comes with the ability to operate in all terrains and conditions. Supported by various variants namely APC, Missile Launcher, Battering Ram, and Recon, this vehicle is capable to reach a maximum speed up to 80 km/h, powered by cTurbo Charger Intercooler diesel engine with a ruising range of 450 kilometers. More than 60 units of Komodo have strengthened the TNI fleet and are also operated by the United Nations in various Peacekeeping missions. Battering Ram type has been operated by Kopassus.

Medium Tank Harimau presents as the latest innovative combat vehicle product manufactured by Pindad which is supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. Indonesian Army has bought 18 Harimau Medium tanks this year and will increase the number in the next strategic plan. Equipped with a 105 mm caliber turret as the main weapon and a 7.62 mm caliber machine gun for maximum combat power. the Harimau is able to operate in various conditions, especially tropical places and extreme terrain thanks to its light weight, lighter than the Main Battle Tank. Equipped with STANAG 4569 protection up to level 5, an anti-ballistic and anti-mine defense system, the Harimau is projected to strengthen the military main fleet.

The 6x6 Badak is one of the variants of combat vehicle 6x6 manufactured by Pindad which was based on the needs of the TNI, especially for the cavalry units. This vehicle is equipped with 90 mm caliber turret as the main weapon, 7.62 mm caliber machine guns and operated by 3 crew members. Equipped with STANAG 4569 protection level 3 anti-ballistic defense system, Badak are ready to strengthen the cavalry combat power.

Combat vehicle 8x8 is a combat vehicle type projected to strengthen infantry unit. Weighed 22 tons, this armored vehicle is capable to carry 10 personnels and operated by 3 crew members. This vehicle has amphibian ability to deal with ralasuntai terrain (swamp, sea, river, coast area). 8x8 is also reinforced by the 30mm canon and carries a fully integrated Battlefield Management System (BMS) that supports modern combat situations and is projected to be able to fight against other types of armored vehicles such as heavy armored vehicles and tanks.
