Medium Tank, Provision Of Pindad For Country 73 Years Indonesian Independence

Approaching the 73-year moment of independent Indonesia, PT Pindad (Persero) carried out the welcoming of Medium Tanks made by the nation's people on August 16, 2018 which had gone through a series of certification tests with Ditlitbangad. After going through the Mine Explosion Resistance Test with satisfactory results on 12 & 14 July 2018, this time the Medium Tank carried out mobility or mobility tests on 7 - 16 August 2018.

Pindad has completed the process of developing Medium Tanks ranging from the design process to the prototyping built in Indonesia by the nation's children. The presence of Medium Tanks is proof of the ability of the domestic defense industry to produce innovative high-tech products to support the independence of defense equipment to maintain the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.

This test aims to determine the mobility performance of Medium Tank capabilities in good condition, meet design requirements and specifications. This test circuit is a certification activity carried out by Dislitbangad.

Tests carried out were dimensions and equipment tests, track band tests including: 30% sloping road test, 0.6 m upright obstacle test, parallel beam obstacle test, embankment obstacle test, 45 & 60% grade crossing test, and hand brake test 45 & 60% incline, as well as mobility tests, including: meter odo test, safe speed test and maximum speed test on the Cipali Toll. 60% climb test with a distance of 1.6 km and a 30-45% climb test with a distance of 4 km in Sarangan, East Java. Low speed test. 5 km / h with a distance of 10 km, sand crossing test decomposed, sandy sandy hill crossing test and combat light test in Kebumen, Central Java as well as 3x24 hour vehicle endurance test in Kalijati Subang and off road test in Parangpong Subang.

The test results are very satisfying, meet the requirements and specifications possessed by the TNI AD to complete the Technical Performance Capability of the Medium Tank. Next will be carried out an earthquake power test on August 27-30, 2018. After the Test Series is complete, it is expected that the Medium Tank will immediately fill the needs of the TNI for modern defense equipment.

Medium Tank is a long program in building technology mastery towards the independence of domestic defense equipment. Medium Tanks are included in the 7 strategic development of the government to increase the ability of BUMNIS to compete with the foreign defense industry. Through this joint development program for Medium Tanks, Pindad has gained knowledge, experience and international standard references regarding the development of tanks.

As a 73rd Independence Day offering, Pindad presents Medium Tanks that have gone through a series of tests, and will still undergo the next test before they are ready to be mass produced to complement the ranks of combat vehicles by the nation's children.

Specification Medium tanks have the latest ballistic defense and anti-threat defense capabilities. The latest generation of medium tanks are equipped with extensive combat power ranging from close range protection for infantry forces to combat between combat vehicles. Pindad medium tank has a weight of 32 tons, power of 20 HP / ton, a maximum speed of 70 km / hour, can accommodate 3 crew consisting of commanders, shooters and drivers, and has a main weapon of 105 mm caliber turret which has a large destructive power.

Medium tanks are equipped with the latest technologies, such as independent alert systems, hunter killer systems, laser warning systems, battle management systems, and level 5 protection. Medium tank turrets have an autoloader mechanism with 12 bullets in a turret and 26 bullets backup inside hull. Medium tank designs are made according to the requirements of the users, based on modern battle strategies where the ease of mobilization of the medium tank is one of the advantages in addition to its own capabilities.
